PUT YOUR HOPE IN GOD
PUT YOUR HOPE IN GOD
BY EVANGELINE UNITY ESAABA FOLSON
ROMANS 5:3-5
And not only so, but we glory in tribulation also knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience, and experience hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
The Oxford English minidictionary defines hope as an expectation of something desired. In the passage quoted above, we learn that we should glory in tribulations (that is we should rejoice even in suffering). This is a very difficult thing to do. The passage goes on to say that we should rejoice even in our suffering because the suffering or trouble will help us become more patient and this would eventually lead us to experience hope.
Verse 5 of Romans 5 tells us that “hope maketh not ashamed”. Hope does not make us ashamed because when you expect something from God:
- Your expectation would be rewarded by God. (Numbers 23:19, Jeremiah 32:27)
- Even the impossible becomes possible (Matthew 19:26, Philippians 4: 13)
- You will always triumph (2 Corinthians 2:14, 1 Corinthians 15: 57)
YOUR EXPECTATION WILL BE REWARDED
NUMBERS 23:19
God is not a man, that He should lie, neither the son of man, that He should repent: hath He said, and shall He not do it? Or hath He spoken, and shall he not make it happen?
JEREMIAH 32:27 Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there anything too hard for me?
God is not a man that He should lie. Whatever He has promised to do in His word, He will do. He has all power, He created all things and there is nothing He cannot do.
If your hope is in the Almighty God, there is no need to fear because nothing is too hard for him. He can do much more than we can ever think or imagine. When we put your trust in Him, you will not be ashamed or disappointed.
EVEN THE IMPOSSIBLE BECOMES POSSIBLE
MATTHEW 19:26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.
PHILIPPIANS 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengthen me.
With God, all things are possible even if the thing seems impossible by all human standards. God’s power, strength, and abilities are beyond human understanding. Though He can do all things, He has the sole right or prerogative to decide which impossible situation to change. He can see into the future and He knows what you need now to move into your next dimension or level of your life.
God can give you the grace and the strength to do all He requires you to do. So do not fret when all around you point to the fact that you cannot accomplish the task He has given to you.
Pray, hope for the best, and do all you can to complete your assignments. God will not put you to shame.
YOU WILL ALWAYS TRIUMPH IN HIM
2 CORINTHIANS 2: 14
Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savor of His knowledge by us in every place.
1 Corinthians 15: 57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
When we expect God to move on our behalf, we will always have the victory we would triumph at all times. The two verses above both say that God would always, not sometimes cause us to triumph in the Lord Jesus Christ.
God makes sure that those who put their hope in Him are not disappointed. Sometimes it may seem that you have lost the battle, but do not give up, because God would only be preparing you for the victory ahead.
CONCLUSION
Reflect on the words of this song:
In the name of Jesus
In the name of Jesus
We have the victory
Over Satan
In the name of Jesus
In the name of Jesus
Demons will have to flee
Who can tell what God can do
Who can tell His love for us
In the name of mighty Jesus
We have the victory
