Draw me close to you, Lord!!!

Key verse
Matthew 5:8
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God
Meaning when your thoughts and heart are free from evil, you will see God or get close to God.
There is a song that says
Draw me close to you
Never let me go
I lay it all down again
To hear you say that I am your friend
Help me find the way bring me back to you
How can we get close to God?
1. By praising God
Psalm 100:4
2. By believing that He truly exists
Hebrews 11:6
3. By calling unto the Lord
Jeremiah 33:3
Matthew 7:7
1. By praising God or through praise , worship and thanksgiving we get close to God
– Psalm 100:4 says
Enter His gates with Thanksgiving and His courts with praise
– A king’s court is where he dwells and therefore praise takes us into the presence of God. Very close to God
– Psalm 22:3 says
God inhabits the praises of His people. Reaffirming the fact when we praise God, He draws near to us
2. By believing that God truly exists
– Hebrews 11:6
Without faith it is impossible to please God. Everyone that comes to Him must believe that He is and He is a rewarder of them that deligently seek Him ( paraphrased)
– Some people do not believe that God exists because we cannot see Him
– But according to the verse immediately above, God proves that He exists by rewarding us with His blessings
– For example after writing a major examination you pray frequently for God to help you pass well
– Then He answers your prayer by rewarding you with a distinction or a First Class
3. By calling unto the Lord
– Jeremiah 33:3
Call unto me and I will answer and show you great and hidden things you do not know
Matthew 7:7
Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and the door will be open unto you
– Both verses are assuring us that when we pray God will answer our prayers because He is close enough to hear everything we say
– Matthew 28:20 says
…..and lo, I am with you always even unto the end of this age.
