YOU REMAIN THE SAME
By Evangeline Unity Esaaba Folson
Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today and forever.
The verse above brings to mind a song that says:
Ancient of days
As old as you are
You remain the same.
This song confirms Revelation
1:8 which says
I am the alpha and Omega
The beginning and he ending, saith the Lord,
Which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
God is indeed the “ancient of days” because He is, He was and is to come meaning, He existed before the world began and will exist even after heaven and earth is destroyed (Revelation 21:1-4) Through He has existed for a long time, He does not charge like things in the world do:
– A man grows old and weak and finally dies. Sometimes even before his old age.
– Food, turns bad after time, even if it is put in the refrigeration
– Plants wither and die and animals also die. But God remains the same
– He does not grow old
– He does not get tired
– He does not slumber or sleep
– His power and great love for mankind remains the same.
What benefits can we derive from the fact that God remains the same and never changes.
- He is faithful and keeps this promise (He does not fail)
Joshua 1:9 2 Corinthians 1:20
- We are safe because He keeps watch over us.
- Psalm 23:4 2 Corinthians 12:9
- Nothing can harm us Isaiah 54:17
- He sustains us and keep us healthy Isaiah 53:5 James 5:14-15
He is faithful (He does not fail)
Joshua 1:9
Have not I commanded thee?
Be strong and of good courage, be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy god is with thee wither soever thou goest.
In the verse above God says He is with us no matter where we go. Whether we are doing His work or going about our normal duties as students, working and ambassadors of Christ. He says we need not fear defeat, failure or destruction.
2 Corinthians 1:20
For all the promises of God in Him are yea, and in Him, Amen, unto the glory of God by us.
This verse says the many promises God has made in His word for His children are all at our disposal. We can claim as many of them as we need as many times as we have to because of our circumstances.
We are safe because He keeps watch over us
Psalm 23:4
Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear o evil for thou art with me thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
The verse above gives us (Christians) the assurance that no matter how dangerous or overwhelming our challenges He is with us to guide and comfort us through the ordeal
2 Corinthians 12:0
And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my uniformities that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
God says His grace is enough (sufficient) to cover and help us overcome whatever weaknesses we have.
If we are not smart enough to pass all our examinations He will give us wisdom. (James 1:5) When we do not have the capacity to meet tight deadlines and meet targets, He says He will strengthen and Help us – (Isaiah 41:10)
Nothing can harm us
Isaiah 54:17
No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in
Judgment thou shalt
Condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me saith the Lord………
This verse says nothing planned to harm or destroy us shall be successful (no weapon that is formed against you shall prosper). It is your right as a child of God that He keeps you safe and unharmed form all attacks of the evil one (the heritage of the servants of God)
Mathew 6:13
And lead us not unto temptation but deliver us from evil for thine is the Kingdom the power and the glory forever and ever.
God has all the power and ability to deliver us from anything that can harm us. All we have to do is ask Him in prayer.
He sustains us and keeps us healthy
Isaiah 53:5
But he was wounded for our transgressions, we was bruised for our iniquities: He Chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and with His stripes we are healed. The verse above says through the death and resurrection of our Lord, He healed us from every disease that will ever attack any of us.
James 5:14 says is any sick among you? Let them call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over them, anointing him with our in the name of the Lords.
In Bible times, oil was used for healing (as a medication) this I believe indicates.
