Sing for JOY!!!

Arise, shine for thy light is come and the glory of the Lord is risen upon you
Why do we have to sing for “JOY”?
1. The Google dictionary defines joy as a feeling of great pleasure and happiness
2. We need to sing for “JOY” as christians because
– Like the verse
above says
– The glory of the Lord is risen upon us
3. According to google, the glory of the Lord, represents God’s majesty, honor, and the visible manifestation of His presence and attributes
– When the glory of the Lord falls on you , you become endued or anointed with power from God.
– You reflect the beauty of the Lord and you can draw people to God
How can christians sing for joy to reflect the goodness and mercy of God ?
1. By sharing testimonies
– Psalm 27:13-14
I would have fainted unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Be strong take courage and wait for the Lord ( paraphrased)
– John 4:29
Come see a man who told everything I ever did
The first reference is from the Psalms. The Psalmist’s is giving his own testimony about what God did for him
Things got really difficult but because he believed God will make a way, he stood firm refusing to take the easy way out and God made a way.
The second reference is the story of the Samaritan woman who met Jesus at the well. He did not know Jesus but He told her the story of her life. She was so amazed she run back to the village to call everyone to come and listen to Jesus
Theologians refer to her as the first Christian witness. She did not know any bible verses but she witnessed to a whole village within few minutes after talking to Jesus
That is what God expects us to do as ambassadors of Christ . Tell your story or give your testimony. You do not need several verses well rehearsed and put together
That has a place in Christianity but as ambassadors of Christ. Our testimony is just fine. We can give bible verses later
2.Givng to show our appreciation
– Malachi 4:10
Bring your tithes and offerings into the storehouse ……see if I will not open the windows of heaven and pour blessings you cannot find room to contain
– Luke 6:38
Give and it shall be given unto you good measure pressed down shaken together and running over…..
Apart from sharing your testimony, giving is another way of expressing appreciation to God or singing for joy.
You have to give your tithe which is a tenth of your income every month
In addition to this you can also give extra as
– Thanks offering showing appreciation to God for the many blessings He bestowed on you
– Seed offering used as a point of contact to claim victory or breakthrough in a situation
3.Dedicating your life to serve God
– Psalm 27:4
One thing have I asked of the Lord and that will I seek after that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life to behold the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in His temple
– Matthew 28:19-20
Go to all nations and preach the word…..lo I am with you always to the end of this age.
In the first reference, the Psalmist has been so overwhelmed by the goodness of God he wants to serve Him all the days of his life
That is another way of showing our appreciation to God, or singing for joy, serving Him all the days of our life
The second reference tells us exactly what to do when you dedicate your life to Jesus
Be a faithful ambassador of Christ all your life
