His mercies endure forever
By Aunty Evangeline
It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not
They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness
Some bible translations of the same passage above say
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, His mercies never will come to an end. They are new every morning, Great is thy faithfulness
Why does the bible says the mercies of the Lord endure?
Mercy can be defined as compassion or that deep feeling of sympathy for your neighbor in pain that moves you to help
For example, you find a beggar by the road side in tattered clothes and probably sick and hungry.
Mercy or compassion will move you not only to say sorry but give money to meet his/ her needs. Bring old clothes and share your food
In the same way, though we constantly disobey God and do things that does not please Him
When we are in trouble and we call unto Him , He still helps because He is mercies endure forever.
Why does God’s mercies endure in spite of our sin and disobedience?
1. God keeps His promises
– Joshua 1:5
– 2 Corinthians 1:20
2. He knows we are weak
– Psalm 103:14
– 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
God keeps His promises
– Joshua1:5
…. as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee
– 2 Corinthians 1:20
For all the promises of God in Him are yea, and in Him Amen, unto the glory of God by us
A. The two verses above confirm that God keeps His promises
B. He is always with us, He never leaves us nor forsakes us
– Furthermore, no matter the number of times we claim His promises He always fulfills them
C. He never says you have claimed this promise too many times, once you need it , it is available
D. This proves that God’s mercies endure forever
2. He knows we are weak
Psalm 103:14
For He knowth our frame; he remembereth that we dust
2 Corinthians 12:9-10
And He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect non weakness. Most gladly therefore, will I rather glory in my infirmities that the power of Christ may rest upon me
Therefore, I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches , in necessities, in persecutions, in distressed for Christ’s sake: For when I am weak, I am strong.
A. The first verse quoted above says God knows we are weak, as humans we cannot stand many temptations, we will fall. Therefore, when we fall and we repent or feel sorry for our sins , He gives us another chance
– To prove that His mercies endure forever
B. The second one says , accepting our weaknesses instead of pretending to be strong and “super human”
– Perfects the power of God in our lives. When we accept our weaknesses , His grace abounds in our life
– And He gives us the ability to perform exceptionally
– To prove that His mercies endure forever
Conclusion
– Accept your weaknesses and allow the power of God to be perfected in your life.
