Peace, Be still !!!

… With men it is impossible but with God all things are possible.
The verse above means with the grace and strength of God it is possible to do things that may seem impossible
– Because of our limited strength as humans
– Limited intelligence as humans
– Limited resources as humans
But by the grace and strength of God it is possible to do things that seem difficult to do with our human strength
1- An example can be found in Joshua 6 where the people of Israel were able to bring down the walls of Jericho
– Through singing and shouts of praise
2. James 1:5
If you lack wisdom ask God, and He will give you wisdom
– As a student as you prepare for a difficult examination
– Pray and ask for wisdom and intelligence
– As a worker as you try to complete an assignment in an area you do not have much knowledge. Pray and ask for wisdom and browse on the internet for information
– As an ambassador of Christ as you prepare for that big crusade in a foreign land pray for wisdom and the anointing.
Jesus calms a storm at sea
This story can be found in Mark 4
1. Jesus and His disciples go to preach outside the town they live in
2. In the evening, they are in a boat sailing back to the town where they live
3. They are caught in a storm at sea and Jesus is fast asleep
– Fast asleep in a storm at sea?
– That is amazing because
a) The boat may be tossing the sea up and down
b) Water will fill the boat, the disciples are trying to take the water out, and shouting instructions to one another
– Jesus cannot feel His clothes are getting wet?
4. One of the disciples wakes Him up and says
“Master don’t you care that we are perishing?”
5. He wakes up and says
“Oh you of little faith. No storm can swallow the ship that has the Lord of all flesh” ( paraphrased)
6. Then , He raises His hands and says
“Peace be still”
The storm ceases almost immediately and the sea becomes calm again
What can we learn from this story?
1. In times when the storms are raging in your life
– One problem leads to another
2. Remain calm
Psalm 46: 10 says
Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth
3. Meaning, stop fretting and worrying. Leave everything to me. I will make a way
Conclusion
I end with two verses of scripture one from the old testament and the other from the new testament
Isaiah 26:3
He will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Him
– Stay focused on God and His word. Trust Him completely. He will make a way
Psalm 46:1
The Lord is our refuge and strength, a very present help in the time of trouble.
