Giving To the Lord Is Never In Vain
Giving To the Lord Is Never In Vain
By Evangeline Unity Esaaba folson
And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, what is it Lord? And He said unto him,
Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.
Proverbs 18:16
A man’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him, before great men.
The two verses quoted above indicate clearly that
- Giving to the Lord is not in vain
- It attracts the favor of God
- It never a waste of resources or an act of foolishness
This can be confirmed by the fact that.
- There are even non-Christians who believe in giving to the poor etc. they are called philanthropist
- Also Ecclesiastes 11:11 says cast they bread upon the waters for thou shalt find it after many days
Meaning, give willing and you will also be blessed abundantly. You might not receive the money back (sometimes you do) but may have exceptionally good health through your life in unhealthy circumstances
- Luke 6:38 adds to this, it says
- Give, and it shall be given unto you; and measure, pressed down, and shaken together and running over, shall men give into your bosom for with the same measure that you give it shall be given unto you.
The story of Tabitha
The story of Tabitha in Acts 9:36-42 is a good example of giving especially to god is rewarding.
Infact Acts 20:35 says
It is more blessed to give then to receive.
Tabitha or Dorcas was full of good works. Her good works went so fat that when she died the people she had been good to did all that was possible to get the Apostle Peter, who prayed to raise her form the dead. Lesson from the story your good works or giving can save your life.
The Story of Abigail
The story of Abigail in 1 Samuel Chapter 25 to Chapter 26 in the old testaments another example in the bible that highlights.
He benefits of giving Abigail’s husband Nabal failed or refused to give David and his men food. In spite of the fact that David and his men had been guarding his property.
His wife Abigail stepped in quickly by sending David and his men, food and supplies that could last for a long time. Lesson from this story is that good works can save not your life only but that of your family and whole household as well.
Giving, especially to God and to promote the gospel is not in vain.
What do I mean by giving to promote the gospel giving to all these you can just to strike a friendship that could be used to share the salvation message.
Meditate on the words of this song
I dreamed I went to heaven.
And you were there with me
We walked upon the streets of gold
Beside the crystal sea
We heard the angels singing
Then someone called your name
You turned and saw this young man
And he was smiling as he came
And he said friend
You may not know me now
And then he said but wait
You use dot teach my Sunday school
When I was only eight
And every week you would say a prayer
Before the class would start
And one day when you said that prayer
I ask Jesus in my heart
Thank you for giving to the Lord
I am a life that was changed
Thank you for giving to the Lord
I am so glad
You gave
