Call unto the Lord!!!!
Call unto me, and I will answer and show thee great and hidden things you do not know
” Call unto the Lord” means talk to the Lord through prayer. According to the verse you can call unto the Lord anytime, anywhere and countless number of times. It is an open invitation.
And God has promised to answer ( and I will answer) always.
How does God answer our prayers?
1. By granting our requests
– Psalm 37:5
– John 15:7
2. He gives a sign
– Judges 6:17
– Philippians 4:19
3. He comforts us
– Joshua1:9
– John 14:26
1. By granting our requests
– Psalm 37:5
Commit your way to the Lord, trust Him and He also will do it ( paraphrased)
– John 15:7
If you abide in me and my words abide in you ask whatever you will and it shall be done unto you
– When we call unto the Lord and place our requests before Him or commit our way to Him , He grants our requests
– Furthermore, when we abide in His word or obey His commands, He grants us the desires of our heart
2. He gives a sign
– Judges 6:17
….now show me a sign that it is you who speaks to me
– Philippians 4:19
And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus
– Sometimes the requests we place before God needs a sign from Him so we can proceed on an assignment
– Gideon asked for a sign and the Lord gave Him the sign
– You may be seeking direction on what career to chose, probably to do science or arts
– You could ask God to help you excel in the area He wants you to chose as a career.
– There are also instances when you want God to show you which area of ministry to chose. Preaching? The prophetic or music?
– God could show you which area of ministry to chose by providing what you need for that ministry
– If it is music, someone might bless you with a guitar or keyboard etc
3. He comforts us
Joshua 1.9
Have I not told you to be strong and of good courage? ……for I the Lord your God I am with you wherever you go
– John 14:26
But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name will teach you all things
– God encourages or comforts us in the verse from the book of Joshua that we need not fear because he is with us wherever we go
– The second verse describes the Holy Spirit as our comforter or helper who will teach us all things.
Conclusion
– Let’s learn to call on the Lord always and He will answer and meet our needs
