The Name Of The Lord
By Evangeline Unity Esaaba Folson
(AKA AUNTY EVANGELINE)
The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteousness runneth into it, and is safe.
The message Bible translation of the verse above says God’s name is a place of protection- good people can run there and be safe.
Interest in the above verse is in the first part of Proverbs 18:10a “God’s name is a place of protection”
That is why when you find yourself in a bus with people of various religions; Christians, Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims etc.
If danger is approaching, probably an accident, most of these people will shout “Jesus !!!”
Why?
Because the Bible says
– All power has been given to Jesus
Daniel 7:13, Matthew 28:18
– God can do the impossible
Jeremiah 32, Matthew 19:26
– God has our welfare at heart
Jeremiah 29:11 , 1 Peter 5:7
All power has been given to Jesus
Daniel 7:13
I saw in the night visions, and behold, one like the son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and they brought him near before him.
“ The son of man” in the Bible normally refers to Jesus. This is a kind of prophecy about Jesus.
Because the book of Daniel is in the Old testament but Jesus was born in the New testament era.
This is an indication that Jesus was powerful or part of the God head. Only the birth of great people is prophesied long before they are born.
Matthew 28:18
And Jesus came and spake unto them in heaven and in earth.
If Jesus has been given all power in heaven and on earth then it is safe to find protection in the power of His Name.
God can do the impossible
Jeremiah 32: 27
Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there anything too hard for me?
There is nothing too hard for our God to do. With God there are no impossibilities.
This is confirmed in the verse below
Matthew 19:26
But Jesus behold them, and said unto them, with men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
It is therefore important to call on the name of the Lord, in the time of trouble. He can do the impossible.
God has our welfare at heart
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
1 Peter 5:7
Casting all your care upon Him, for the careth for you.
According to the two verses quoted above God has our welfare at heart
– He has good thoughts about us
– To give each of us a successful life
– So we should all cast our burdens or cares upon Him
Psalm 46:1
God is out refuge and strength, a very present help in our time of need.
To call on the name of the Lord, therefore gives us protection and grace in time of need.
Meditate on the words of the song
Cast your burdens
Unto Jesus
For He cares for you
Take your troubles to King Jesus
There is rest for you
If you knew Him better
You will praise Him louder
You will lift Him higher
And you will love Him better
Chorus
Higher, higher
Higher, lift King Jesus higher
Higher, higher
Lift King Jesus higher
