THE NAME OF THE LORD
THE NAME OF THE LORD
By Evangeline Unity Esaaba Folson
The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.
The Good News Translation of the verse above says “the Lord is like a strong tower”, where the righteous can go and be safe. Meaning, we can find safety and security in the Lord or in the name of the Lord. When disaster strikes or there is a danger, even the unsaved or unrighteous call upon the name of the Lord, because it has been tried and tested by testimonies from several people over the years. There have been many miracles, real life miracles that have confirmed that the name of the Lord is above every other name in heaven and on the earth.
Why is the name of the Lord higher than any other name here on earth and in heaven and in heaven?
The name if the Lord brings:
- Deliverance Joel 2:32
- Power Philippians 2:9-11
- Salvation Romans 10:9-10
Calling on the name of the Lord bring Deliverance
Joel 2:32
And it shall come to pass, that, whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord, shall be delivered: For in mount zion and Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the Lord hath said, and in the remnant whom the Lord shall call.
Calling on the name of the Lord not only involves calling out loud the name of the Lord but it also involves calling on Him through prayer.
Joel 2: 28-31 describes events just before the day of the Lord (pouring out of His Spirit upon all flesh) and events during the day of the Lord. The Bible says the day of the Lord will be great and terrible (Joel 2:31). Only those who call on the name of the Lord will be delivered from the terrible events.
When you call on the name of the Lord in the tine of trouble, help and deliverance will come your way.
Calling on the name of the Lord brings power
Philippians 2:9-11
Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name:
That at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow, of things in heaven and things in earth, and things under the earth.
And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
The name of the Lord carries a lot of power. According to the passage above, just mentioning the name of the Lord brings every power, principality, and worshipper to his/her knees.
The name of the Lord carries a lot of authority and “deflates” every other power on earth and in heaven.
When you feel helpless and powerless just call on the name of the Lord and He will strengthen you to do whatever you are required to do.
Philippians 4:13says
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Calling on the name of the Lord brings Salvation
Romans 10:9-10
That if thou shalt confess with they mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
For with the heart, man believeth unto righteousness: and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.
When you confess or mention the name of the Lord and believe in His death and destruction your soul will be saved. As we celebrate easter, let us remember that Jesus is the reason for the season. His sacrifice and total obedience to God has given us the victory over all things.
In the name and strength of the Lord, we can climb the higher mountain, cross the widest and roughest sea and make it through the lowest valley.
Meditate on the words of this song:
You raise me up, so I can
Stand on mountains
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders you raise
You raise me up to more than I can be
