MY GRACE IS SUFFICIENT FOR YOU
MY GRACE IS SUFFICIENT FOR YOU
By Evangeline Unity Esaaba Folson
2 Corinthians 12: 8-10
For thing, I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me, and He said, “My grace is sufficient for thee, for my strength is made perfect in weakness”. Most gladly, therefore, will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore, I take pleasure in infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
Therefore, I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distress for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then I am strong.
Like Paul, the whole world has a thorn in the flesh now, coronavirus. Christians everywhere are praying for God to take this pandemic away by helping scientists to come up with a cure. Since December 2019 until now, almost six months but there is no vaccine yet to protect us against this virus.
The word for the moment
I believe God’s word for His people now is that “His grace is sufficient for us. His strength would be made perfect in our weakness. How do we glory or take pleasure in our infirmities, reproaches, necessities, persecutions, and distress for the strength of God to be made perfect in us? Below are a few suggestions:
- Do not faint (Psalm 27:13-14)
- Fear no evil (Joshua 1:9, Psalm 23:4)
- Delight in the law of the Lord (Psalm 119:92)
- Confess the goodness and mercy of God over your life (Psalm 23: 6)
Do not faint
Psalm 27: 13-14
I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of God in the land of the living.
Wait on the Lord, be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say on the Lord.
This passage encourages us to continue to wait on the Lord (fast and pray). We should not give up or faint. We must continue to call on God to show us His goodness. Let us develop and plan personal and church prayer times (pray together and connect with one another on social media). As a church we can organize prayer chains, for example, get people to pray every hour from 6.00 am on Friday to 6.00 pm on Saturday. Personal prayer and fasting can also be done. Everyone could choose one day in a week e.g. Wednesday or Friday, as will be convenient for you.
Fear no evil
Joshua 1: 9
Have I not commanded thee? Be strong and of good courage: be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
Psalm 23:4
Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me, thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Circumstances may look bad but do not fear because from the two verses above, God promises to comfort us in our afflictions and stay by our side to the end, no matter what happens.
Delight in the law of the Lord
Psalm 119: 92
Unless thy law had been my delights; I should have perished in my affliction
According to this verse, when we delight in the law of God (read and study the word and rely on it for direction in whatever you do), God will deliver us from our affliction.
Confess the goodness and mercy of God over your life
Psalm 23: 6
Surely, goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Let this verse be your prayer and confession each day. And make sure you serve and stay in the house of the Lord all the days of your life.
Concluding remarks
As the youth of this generation, most of you may be out of school or work because of the pandemic, instead of spending all your spare time on movies or chatting on social media, take time to pray fervently.
Remember
Faithful is He that calleth you, who will also do it. (1 Thessalonians 5: 24)
