He is Able
HE IS ABLE
By Evangeline Unity Esaaba Folson
Ephesians 3:20-21
Now unto Him, that is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.
Unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end Amen.
The passage above states that God is able and can do much, much more than we can ask or think (imagine). The dictionary defines the word “think” as, to have a particular opinion, belief, or idea.
It includes our dreams, desires, and everything our minds can develop. And yet the bible says God can do “exceeding abundantly” (much, much more).
This implies that we should never believe things like:
- There are things that are too hard for God to do
Matthew 6: 31-32
Matthew 6: 34
Jeremiah 32:27
- God does not care about His children
Matthew 7:7-8
Matthew 7:9-11
1 Peter 5:7
- It is not important to serve God
Matthew 6:33
John 15:7
Revelation 3:20
There are things that are too hard for God to do
Jeremiah 32:27
Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: Is there anything too hard for me?
Matthew 6:31-32
Therefore, take no thought, saying, what shall we eat? Or what shall we drink? Or, wherewithal shall we be cloth?
(For after all these things do the Gentiles seeks, for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
Matthew 6:34
Take therefore no thought for the morrow, for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
The verse from Jeremiah says there is nothing too hard for God to do. He is able to do all things, as humans we think frequently about what we shall eat, drink or wear. Sometimes, we are broke and we do not know how we are going to meet our daily needs. Matthew assures us that God can take care of all these things. All we have to do is to pray, ask for our needs, and trust God to provide it. He knows everything God knows you are broke not because you are lazy but because of problems associated with the pandemic. Do not worry too much about tomorrow because God will take care of you.
God does not care about His children.
Matthew 7:7-11
Ask, and it shall be given you, seek and ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you.
For every one that asketh receiveth and he that seeketh findeth, and to him that knocketh, it shall be opened unto you.
Or what man is there of you, whom if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks a fish, will he give him a serpent?
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven, give good things to them that ask Him.
1 Peter 5:7
Casting all your care upon Him, for He careth for you.
The passage from the book of Matthew and the verse from 1 Peter confirms that God is willing and able to give good things His children request from Him to them. He cares so much that He is willing to take up all our cares and problems and fix them. He will certainly make a way although circumstances around you may suggest that all is lost and there is no hope for the future.
God cares for His children and He wants the best for them at all times.
Jeremiah 29:11 says
For I know the thought that I think towards you, saith the Lord thought of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
It is not important to serve God.
Matthew 6:33
But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.
John 15:7
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
Revelation 3:20
Behold, I stand at the door and knock, if any man hears my voice, and open the door, I will come into him, and will sup with him. And he with me.
The first verse from the book of Matthew says if “we seek first the kingdom of God”, all things shall be added unto us. Meaning if we accept Jesus’s sacrifice on the cross for our salvation, and surrender our lives to Him, every other thing we need will follow.
John 15: 7 tells us that if we abide in Jesus and His words abide in us, then whatever we ask will be provided. Abiding in God requires that we learn His commandments and obey them. When we do this we have no cause to worry about the future. God will take care of everything.
In Revelations 3: 20, Jesus is telling us that, He is constantly standing at the door of our hearts knocking. If we open the door and allow Him to come in, then He will live with us. Living with Jesus is the best thing to do. He is the almighty God and there is nothing too hard for Him to do.
Concluding remarks
God’s word to us in turbulent times is that “He is able”. Let’s cast all our cares on Him. He will certainly make away.
The songwriter says:
God is able to do just what He said He will do
He’s gonna fulfill every promise to you
Don’t give up on God
Cause He won’t give up on you
HE IS ABLE.
