Fear Not
FEAR NOT
BY EVANGELINE UNITY ESAABA FOLSON
ISAIAH 41:10
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed, for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee I will uphold you thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
Fear is one of our greatest enemies as Christians and children of God. It can cripple you and make you unable to fulfill your destiny. The bible says fear has torment.
1 JOHN 4:18
There is no fear in love, but perfect love casteth out fear because fear hath ‘torment’. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
God tells us not to fear because:
- He is with us Mathew 28:19 – 20
Isaiah 43:1-2
- He is our God
Psalm 95:3
Ephesians 3:20
- He will strengthen us
Matthew 11: 28-30
Matthew 19: 26
Philippians 4: 13
- He will help us
Jeremiah 33:3
Mathew 7:7-8
- He will uphold us (Give us victory)
Isaiah 54:17
Mathew 6:33
HE IS WITH US
MATHEW 28:19 – 20
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost:
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.
JOSHUA 1:9
Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of good courage, be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed; for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
ISAIAH 43:11 – 2 But now thus saith the Lord, that created thee, O Jacob, and He that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name thou art mine.
When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
The passage from Mathew is Jesus’s last words to His disciples. He directed them to go and save the world and assured them that, He is with them till the end of the world. This confirms that he is always with us and we need not fear.
Joshua 1:9 is God’s assurance to Joshua when he took over from Moses. Moses was a great leader and anyone taking up his position would have some fear and anxiety. But God said He would be with Him wherever He goes, therefore he should not fear. As Christians and children of God, the same promise applies to us. God is certainly with us always.
In Isaiah 43, God brings out some of the challenging situations in Life (passing through water, fire) and assures us once again that, He is with us in all these trails.
As we learn to live in the midst of or with this novel virus we may all have our doubts and fears but let us bear in mind that God is with us and He will see us through.
PSALM 95:3
For the Lord is a God and a great King above all gods.
EPHESIANS 3:20
Now unto Him, that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.
Psalm 95 affirms that God is a great God and King above all gods. Ephesians 3:20 says He is able to do exceeding abundantly above all we can imagine. If we have him as our God there is no need to fear. He is above all gods or King of all principalities and powers and He can do much much more than we can ever imagine or think.
He is above all and able to control all sicknesses and diseases. He can supply all our needs and everything necessary to see us through this pandemic
HE WILL STRENGTHEN US
MATHEW 11:28-30
Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart and ye shall find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
MATHEW 19:26
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.
PHILIPPIANS 4:13
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
In Mathew, Jesus encourages us to come to him and he would lessen our burdens (He will strengthen us). Then in Mathew 19, he says “with God all things are possible because God would do whatever is necessary (strengthen us to overcome our challenges).
With Philippians 4: 13, He assures us that we can do all things through Him (Christ) because He will strengthen us. There is no need to fear or worry about how to overcome the challenges we face because He will strengthen us and make the impossible possible.
JEREMIAH 33:3
Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
MATHEW 7:7-8
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek and ye shall find: knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth, and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
Jeremiah 33:3 assures us that when we call on God through prayer, he will answer and show us great and hidden things we do not know. (He will help us).
The two verses in Mathew show us that, God is willing and able to help us in whatever way He can. If we ask, we will receive, if we knock, He will open and if we seek, we shall find.
HE WILL UPHOLD US (GIVE US VICTORY)
ISAIAH 54:17
No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.
Mathew 6:33
But seek ye first the kingdom God, and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.
The verse from Isaiah 54 tells us that nothing the enemy or evil one throws at us or plans for us will succeed. God will protect us and cause us to be victorious in every battle we fight.
According to Mathew 6:33, the most important thing in life is to seek the kingdom of God. We can do this by accepting the message of Salvation and dedicating our lives to serving Him. When we do this, God would help us obtain all we need and desire.
CONCLUDING REMARKS
The main message in this article is “FEAR NOT” do not be afraid of anything in life that threatens to destroy you. We serve a living God and if we cast all our burdens on Him, he will save us.
Meditate on the words of this song:
Cast your burdens unto Jesus
For he cares for you
Take your troubles to king Jesus
There is rest for you
If you knew him better
You will praise Him louder
You will bless his name
You will lift Him higher
Chorus
Higher, higher
Higher lift King Jesus
Higher
Higher, higher
Lift King Jesus Higher
Another one says:
Fears not, for I am with you 3X
Saith the Lord
