Cannot do with you as this potter
Cannot do with you as this potter
By Evangeline Unity Esaaba Folson
O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter?
Saith the Lord. Behold, as the clay is in the potter’s hand,
So are ye in mine hand,
O house of Israel.
Potters make ceramic and stone ware products using production machines or a potter’s wheel that spins the clay as the potter shapes it with their hands.
Potters mix and apply glazes, and operate the klin’s to harden the pottery
Clay is flexible and malleable or easy to mold. Humans and Christians should be like clay in God’s hands.
Jeremiah 29:11 says
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
According to this verse, God has good plans for each of us. We should be flexible like clay, so He can mold us to become what He wants us to be.
Some of us are so stiff. The word of God clearly says, Thou shalt not steal.
(Deuteronomy 5:19)
Then, you say, Lord let me steal just this one time. I need this thing so much. If you have to steal to get what you need, it is not part of God’s plan.
Just wait patiently for the move of God you will get what you need without stealing.
What are some of the things we need to do to make us flexible and malleable in God’s hands, so He can mold us into what He wants us to be?
We must learn to rely on the word of God in every situation
Joshua 1:8
2 Timothy 2:15
We must learn to seek God’s approval in all we do
Proverbs 3:5-6
Hebrews 11:6
We must learn to thank God in all circumstances.
Romans 8:28
1 Thessalonians 5:18
We must learn to rely on the word of God in every situation
Joshua 1:8
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest absence to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous and then thou shalt have good success.
2 Timothy 2:15
Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth and obey everything it says for then you shall prosper and have good success.
The verse from 2 Timothy 2 also has the same central message study the word and apply it to your life.
That makes you flexible and malleable in the hand of God to mold into whatever He wants you to be.
We must learn to seek God’s approval in all we do
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and learn not unto thine own understanding in all your ways acknowledge him, and He shall direct your path.
Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for He that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.
The summary of the message in the two passages is that. We must learn to pray and seek God’s guidance for everything we do.
No matter how big or small it is.
We must learn to thank God in all circumstances
Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love, to them who are the called according to His purpose.
1 Thessalonians 5:18
In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning.
Meaning, never grumble or complain about anything that happens to you. Learn to thank God for everything good or bad.
Because, He will eventually put everything together in a way that will benefit you.
