Wait for the Lord? [ January 16,2024 ]

Daily Word 🇬🇭

Wait for the Lord?
Psalm 27:13-14
I would have fainted unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Be brave take courage and wait for the Lord (paraphrased)

In Hebrew, the word wait means, to hope for , to anticipate. The phrase “Wait for the Lord” therefore means to hope for or anticipate the move of the Lord.

The Psalmist in the passage above uses a kind of metaphor to explain what he has been through ( I would have fainted) meaning he would have lost hope and given up because of what he has been through. However, because of his firm belief that God will certainly make a way, he is still waiting, hoping for and expecting the move of God.

Scripture also says in Joshua 1:9 that

Have I not told you to be strong and of good courage? Be not afraid or dismayed. For I am with you whitersoever thou goest.

God is reassuring us in the verse above that He is with us always. He sees whatever we are going through. We need no be afraid, He will make a way at the right time.

He will not be one second earlier or late. He will move right on time.

1 Thessalonians 5:17
Pray without ceasing

This verse from the new testament is directing us on what to do whilst waiting for the Lord.

We should pray without ceasing. Morning, afternoon, evening and at midnight. Even at dawn.
God be with you

How can I apply the word to my life?

1. Pray without stopping!!

Song for meditation

Let this song be your confession and prayer

We will wait upon the Lord
In His presence is fullness of joy
And our strength will be restored
As we wait, upon the Lord

Blessings and glory
Wisdom and power
Be unto the ancient of days
From every nation
All of creation
Bow before the ancient of days

Your kingdom shall reign over all of the earth
Sing to the ancient of
days
For none can compare to your matchless worth
Sing to the ancient of days.
Amen
