Prepare me to be a sanctuary!!
Exodus 25:8
And let them make me a sanctuary that I may dwell among them

“Prepare me to be a sanctuary” is a plea to God to put in place all that is necessary to make you a befitting or worthy dwelling place (sanctuary) for His Spirit.

The verse above is a direction from God for the Israelites to make Him a dwelling place. This implies that God not only desire that we put up buildings for worship where He can inhabit our praises but He also wants to live in our hearts.

Why does God have to prepare us to be sanctuaries? There is a proverb that says “to err is human”. Meaning as humans we have a natural tendency to disobey God’s words and commands.

Scripture also says in Psalm 103:13-14 that

He is mindful that we are dust….

God knows that we are only made of dust or clay and we have several weaknesses so He has to shape our character into what He wants is to be before He can dwell in us.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Know ye not that you are the temple of God?….

This verse from the new testament cautions us that we were bought with a price therefore we need to be worthy dwelling places for our Lord in order to glorify His name.

We need to repent and ask for forgiveness whenever we realize we have disobeyed God.

How can I apply the word to my life?
1. Be conscious of the fact that you are God’s dwelling place and live to glorify His name.

Let this song be your confession and prayer

Lord prepare me
To be a sanctuary
Pure and Holy, tried and true
With thanksgiving
I will be a living
Sanctuary
For you
Amen
