Onward Christian soldiers!!!
Joshua 1:9
Have I not told you to be strong
and of good courage. Do not be afraid. Neither be dismayed. For I the Lord your God am with you wherever you go

“Onward Christian soldiers” is the theme of one of the famous hymns. It is based on 2 Timothy 2:3 which says

….. therefore endure hardship as a good soldier of Christ ( paraphrased)

The verse above also highlights other requirements for good soldiers

They should be strong, courageous and fearless.

Christian soldiers however have the added advantage of having the presence of God with them always.

With the help and support of our Lord. It is easier to be strong, courageous and fearless.

This is confirmed by characters in the bible

– With the help and support of our Lord, the Prophet Daniel was able to spend a night with hungry lions. The Lord shut their mouth so they could not devour him

– With the help and support of God, Peter was rescued from prison by an angel without the knowledge of the guards

Today, Christian soldiers are expected to preach salvation to people who have confidence in world systems

– Scientists are developing cure and long Maintenance for dangerous diseases like cancer, HIVetc.- Why do we need God?

– There are dangerous nuclear weapons that can destroy the whole world in seconds. Leaders with these amminutions have confidence they can control the whole world. Why do we need God?

– AI is creating robots that can perform several human functions. AI might control the world in a few years. Why do we need God?

People need the Lord because all these world systems can fail. The story of the Titanic confirms this.

Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

This verse from the new testament assures us that Christ can give us the strength and support we need to spread the Gospel.

It is dangerous and difficult to win souls now. But God’s command to us is still the same

Onward Christian soldiers!!! Keep spreading the Gospel in spite of the danger and ridicule.
