Jeremiah 23:6
In his days Judah shall be saved and Israel shall dwell safely…… His name shall be called, The Lord our Righteousness.
“Jehovah Tsikenu” means the Lord our righteousness. Righteousness can be defined as the quality of being morally right or justifiable.
Christians are expected to be righteousness because certain promises and blessings in the bible are tied to righteousness. For instance:
– The righteous are as bold as a lion (Proverbs 28:1)
– The effectual fervent prayer of the righteous man availeth much ( James 5:16) etc.
The verse above talks about Jehovah Tsikenu, the Lord is our righteousness. Meaning,
the righteousness of God is the root of all integrity. It is the source of all that is genuinely good in our lives.
As Christians we should all strive to be righteous by seeking the help of the Holy Spirit and the grace of God to be morally right and justifiable.
Matthew 6:33
Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.
This verse from the new testament says, that the righteousness of God is the first thing we should desire and seek after and all other things will follow.
