Ebenezer- Thus far God has brought us
1 Samuel 7:12
Then Samuel took a stone, and set it between Mizpeh and Shen, and called the name of it Ebenezer, saying, Hitherto hath the Lord helped us.

It is just by God’s grace that we are who we are today. His mercy and abundant blessings has steered us through life’s tempestuous sea (defeat and failure) and through life’s highpoints (success).

That is the message the Prophet Samuel and the Israelites wanted to portray by laying a memorial stone they called “Ebenezer” -Hitherto has the Lord helped us.

The Bible says in Psalm 23:6 that

Goodness and mercy will follow us all the days of our lives and we will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Meaning, once the Lord is our helper and keeper(shepherd) all will be well.

The hymn writer says

Through the love of God our Savior
All will be well
Free and changeless is His favor
All, all is well
On our Father’s love relying
Jesus every need supplying
Only through the Spirit’s guiding
All will be well

1 Thessalonians 5:24
Faithful is He that calleth you, who also will do it

This verse from the new testament assures us that, God is faithful, therefore, He will do whatever He has promised to do.

He has already seen you through countless challenges and He will certainly complete the good work He has started in you
God be with you

How can I apply the word to my life?
1. Believe that God will see you successfully through all your endeavors no matter what challenges you face.

Meditate on the words of this hymn

His love in time past
Forbids me to think
He’ll leave me at last in trouble to sink
Each sweet Ebenezer
I have in review
Confirms His good pleasure
To help me quite through
Amen
