Begone unbelief!!
Exodus 3:14
God said to Moses I AM THAT I AM
…..tell them that I AM THAT I AM sent you. ( paraphrased)
Unbelief in biblical terms can be defined as lack of faith or refusing to believe in God and His word.
“Begone unbelief” draws our minds to the fact that it is important in challenging times to recall the blessings God has bestowed on us and the successes we have achieved through His grace. This will help us pull through challenging times.
The verse above is an excerpt from the call of Moses. Moses’s response was God it cannot be me (you have the wrong person), I am a fugitive running away from being charged with murder and I am a stammerer. The people will not believe you sent me.
God’s response was tell them “I AM ” sent you. I created you and I know what I put in you. Forget about your weaknesses and fulfill your mission.
In the same way, God has created each of us specifically for certain assignments as ambassadors of Christ. Let’s forget about our weaknesses and unbelief and respond to our call as the Prophet Isaiah did
….here I am, send me ( Isaiah 6:8)
Mark 9:23-24
And Jesus said….if thou would believe, all things are possible to him that believeth
….Lord I believe, help thou my unbelief. ( paraphrased)
This passage from the New testament is part of a story where Jesus was asked to heal a sick child.
Jesus explained that if we are able to put away unbelief all things would be possible to us through His name.
God be with you
How can I apply the word to my life?
1. Put away unbelief and believe in God and His word at all times that
Song for meditation
Let this hymn be your confession and prayer
Be gone unbelief
My Savior is near
And for my relief will surely appear
By prayer let me wrestle
And I shall prevail
With Christ in the vessel
I smile at the storm
Since all that I meet
Shall work for my good
The bitter is sweet
The medicine food
Though painful at present
It’ll cease before long
And then oh how glorious
The conqueror’s song.
Amen
