Be as wise as serpents
Genesis 3:1
Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord had made. And he said unto the woman, Yes God hath said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

The serpent is described as the most cunning beast the Lord created. He was able to deceive Eve to disobey God willing and convinced Adam to do the same, completely destroying God’s original plan for man.

But God is the God who always gives a second chance to His children. He sacrificed His only Son to restore His relationship with man.

Today, God is reminding us to be as crafty or cunning as the serpent because the days are evil and we need to redeem the times ( Ephesians 5:15-16).

The days are said to be evil , because, I believe, the use of advanced technology and the many scientific innovations that makes lives easier for us can easily ,turn us away from God.

For instance the use of the phone and social media prevents most people from having a long undisturbed and fulfilling time in the presence of God through morning devotion or bible study.

The first thing most people do when they wake up is to check messages on their phone instead of praying. This can keep them occupied and prevent them from spending time with God.

Matthew 10:16
Behold I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: Be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves

The verse above also cautions us about the kind of people we deal with. There is so much wickedness and cases on crime and violence keep increasing.

Determine in your heart and pray for God to give you the grace and strength to overcome the many challenges that come your way.

How can I apply the word to my life?
1. Spending time with God is the first thing you need to do when you wake-up. If you need to start work by answering mail then wake up early.
2. In order to gain wisdom to deal with the many challenges and temptations that come your way, pray and study the bible.
3. Some things look harmless and safe on the surface but we need to pray for God to open our eyes and make us sensitive to things that can destroy us.

Prayer
Open our eyes Lord
We need to see Jesus
To reach out and touch Him
And say that we love Him
Open our ears and help us to listen
Open our eyes Lord
We need to see Jesus. Amen.
