YOU MUST BE SAVED

YOU MUST BE SAVED
The bible begins with the book of Genesis which gives an account of how God created the world. He created the world and all that is within it. He put man, Adam and Eve in-charge of all that He had created. In Genesis 2 :16-17, He told them that:
And the Lord commanded man, saying, of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it; for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
Adam and Eve lived in the garden of Eden, enjoying its fruits and having fellowship with God until one day the devil through the serpent made Eve eat the fruit God had forbidden them to eat. Eve like the fruit and made Adam eat it as well.
Since Adam and Eve sinned by disobeying God, the original plan of God for man was destroyed and all descendants of Adam and Eve were separated from God because God hates sin. There was the need for someone worthy to atone for this this sin and reconcile us to God. This leads us to the message of salvation. Three major questions have to be answered:
- Why must I be saved?
- How can I be saved?
- What are the benefits of salvation?
Why must I be saved?
The story summarized in the introduction explains why we need to be saved. Romans 3: 23 says:
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.
Because of the sin of the first man, Adam and his wife which destroyed God’s original plan, all his descendants are charged with the same sin.
According to Romans 6 : 23
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
The penalty of this sin is death, but because God loved the world so much, He sacrificed His only son to die on the cross to atone for our sin and reconcile us to God.
How can I be saved?
John 3 : 16 says:
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish but have everlasting life.
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
So first you believe in your heart what Christ did on the cross for you and then you confess with your mouth unto salvation.
If you are ready and willing now to accept what Christ did for you and be saved, say this prayer.
Lord God Almighty, I thank you for sacrificing your only son to die for me on the cross and save me from my sin.
I accept that I am a sinner and I ask that you cleanse me from all sin and make me a new creation.
Come live in my heart and be Lord and master of my life
In Jesus name I pray with thanksgiving, Amen.
Now you are born again and you are a new creation as 2 Corinthians 5 ; 17 says:
Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things have passed away behold all things have become new.
Choose and attend a bible believing church close to you regularly to help maintain your salvation and guide your growth in the Lord.
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
What are the Benefits of being saved?
Some of the benefits of being saved are:
- You have eternal life (John 3 :16, Romans 6;23)
- You become a new creation. Old things have passed away. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
- You become the son of God and can enjoy all His blessings John 1 :12
But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.
- You become joint heirs with Christ. Romans 8;17
And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.
Conclusion
I know people say all kinds of things about Christianity. People ask questions about whether there is really heaven and hell as the bible says. Until Christ comes again there will be several questions we cannot answer.
Isaiah 55: 8-9 says:
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways may ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
My advice is, let us give our lives to Christ and lead lives that are pleasing to Him. If it turns out that there is heaven and hell then we gain but if there is no heaven and hell we have nothing to lose because a life led for Christ keeps you out of trouble.
