WORRY CANNOT CHANGE ANYTHING
WORRY CANNOT CHANGE ANYTHING
By Evangeline Unity Esaaba Folson
Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin
The new international Version of the bible translates Mathew 6:27-28 as can anyone of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin.
Worry, according to the oxford English mini-dictionary is to feel anxious, annoy, trouble.
The passage above clearly states that “worry” cannot change anything or resolve any problem. it will only give you a broken spirit or make you sad and depressed.
Proverbs 17:22 says
Being cheerful keeps you healthy. It is slow death to be gloomy all the time.
It is evident that ‘worry’ does more harm than good. But as human beings we tend to worry easily because we always have the need or tendency to want to find solutions to every problem. No human being can solve all problems, only God can. To prevent ourselves from worrying we must accept that:
Only God can save or resolve issue
Jeremiah 32:27
Acts 4:12
Trusting God will solve all problems
Proverbs 3:5-6
Psalm 43:5
Romans
It is useless to worry or be anxious
Psalm 37:4-5
Philippians 4:6-7
Only God can save or resolve issues
Jeremiah 32:27
Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there anything too hard for me?
According to the verse above, God can do all things because there is nothing too hard for Him to do. He has all power and the ability to do far more than we can ask or think (Ephesians 3:20)
When you feel anxious or you are tempted to worry about an issue, say a prayer and cast all your cares and burdens on the Lord (1 Peter 5:7)
Apart from praying, you can have your own time of praise and worship by singing songs or playing Christian music and dancing to it.
Acts 4:12
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
In the verse above, Christians are being reminded that salvation and deliverance comes only from the Lord. It is useless finding answers from other sources. Other deities may temporarily solve your problems but you might have to pay very high price for taking that option later in life.
Trusting God will solve all problem
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding in all your ways acknowledge Him and he shall direct your paths.
It does not matter if you have had the same problem over and over again. You might think you know what to do but do not lean on your own understanding.
This time around, God might have a different solution to your problem. Let god have Hi way, instead of using your own wisdom.
Psalm 43:5
Why art thou cast down, o my soul? And why art thou disquieted within me? Hope in God, For I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God. There is no need to feel depressed or sad, put your hope in god. Once you have prayed about it, do not waste time worrying about it, behave without any doubt that god will make a way.
Romance 5:5
And hope maketh not ashamed because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the holy ghost, which is given unto us.
Hope or expect the best from God for the victory over your challenging circumstances.
It is useless to worry
Psalm 37: 4-5
Delight thyself also in the Lord; and He shall give thee the desire of thin heart. Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass.
Instead of worrying and being anxious seek to obey God’s commands and have the desire to please Him in all you do (delight thyself in the Lord) then commit everything that borders you into Gods hands and as the passage above says, God will give you the desires of your heart and bring to pass all that you wish for.
Philippians 4:6-7
Be careful for nothing: but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanks giving let your request be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
You could say that Philippians 4:6-7 is the new testament version of psalm 37:4-5. Worry does not and cannot solve any problem. Instead of worrying:
Pray and cast your burden unto the Lord (1 peter 5:7)
Thank god for the provision he will make or victory He will give you. (2 Corinthians 2:14)
Rejoice in the Lord sing songs of praise and thanksgiving, dance and rejoice (Philippians 4:4)
