Thy thoughts shall be established
Thy thoughts shall be established
By Evangeline Unity Esaaba Folson
Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.
What does the bible mean “thy thoughts shall be established”
The Message Bible translation replaces “thy thoughts shall be established” with – “Then what you have planned will take place”
I believe we would be happy to have all we have planned become a reality in our lives. There are bible characters that experienced the things they planned or dreamt about becoming real.
In the Old Testament we have characters like
- Joseph
- Moses
- Joshua
While in the New Testament we have characters like
- John the Baptist
- The Apostle Paul
- The woman with issue of blood
Joseph and the woman with the issue of blood’s story will be summarized and the lessons highlighted from each story
Joseph
Genesis 37 – Genesis 50 Joseph as a little boy, dreamt that he will be great in future though he was the last but one son, all his brothers will bow down to him some day.
(Genesis 37: 6 – 7)
And his elder brothers said to him, … shalt thou indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his dreams and for his words.
(Genesis 37:8)
His brothers sold him into slavery because of his dream to ensure that his dream never came true.
- He was falsely accused for rape and imprisoned, probably another attempt by the devil to ensure his dream never came true.
- But at the appointed time he was released from prison by Devine intervention and made a ruler of Egypt. Second in command to pharaoh
- A foreigner, a prisoner and a slave. This a miracle, divine intervention to ensure his dream came true only God can do this. Truly the work of Yahweh.
Lesson from story
- This story is a clear indication that when you commit everything to God through prayer even your wildest dreams will come true. There is nothing our God cannot do. He will establish your thoughts.
- The storms and challenges of life may delay things but God will definitely make a way like He did for Joseph
The woman with the issue of blood
Mark 5: 25-34
This woman had been bleeding non-stop for 12 years. She had seen many physicians and wasted all her money on medication but the situation did not change.
Then she heard, Jesus was coming to town. Then she said, will all I have heard about this man, I believe if I can just touch the hem of His garment. I will be healed (Mark 5:28).
She present through the crowd with her fraid body and unpleasant smell. And indeed as soon as she touched the hem of Jesus’ garment she was healed instantly. The blood ceased immediately And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, who touched my clothes (Mark 6:30)
Lesson from story
- It does not matter how long it takes and how much you suffer.
- God will certainly make a way.
The major lesson from both stories is that never give up on your dream, especially if it falls in line with God’s word.
Joseph never gave up on his dreams and it was fulfilled because Jeremiah 29:11 says God has good plans for our welfare.
The woman with the issue of blood never gave up on her dream of being healed though it looked impossible because Isaiah53:5 says by His stripes we are healed. The healing from our infirmities was done long ago because that is God’s will for our lives.
Your plans and dreams for your life will be established or fulfilled if you commit them into God’s hands and it falls in line with His will.
