THE WORD OF GOD
THE WORD OF GOD
BY EVANGELINE UNITY ESAABA FOLSON
HEBREWS 4:12
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
The word of God is quick and powerful as the verse above says Confessing the word of God brings healing and deliverance. It also calls into being the things that be not.
ISAIAH 55:11 SAYS
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth; it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. (KJV)
The NIV says:
So is my word that goes forth from my mouth; it will not return to me empty, but it will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
The word of God includes all that is written in the Bible. What is written in the Bible are the words of God, spoken to men and written by men (inspired by God).
How do we use the word of God? We can use the word of God:
- As a guide
(Psalm 119:105, 2 Timothy 3:16)
- As a weapon
(Ephesians 6:17, Isiah 54:17)
- As a formula for success
(John 1:8, 3 John 2)
AS A GUIDE
PSALM 119:105
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.
2 TIMOTHY 3:16
All scripture is given by the inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.
When we need direction, we should always turn to the word of God. Like light shows the way in the darkness, the word of God can direct us on what to do in the time of crises. For instance, if you need help to choose a spouse, the word of God says in Proverbs 31:30:
Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised (KJV).
Another translation says:
Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.
The word of God has directions on everything we need to do as children of God here on earth. All we need is a bible concordance or google.com to help us.
AS A WEAPON
ISAIAH 54:17
No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.
EPHESIANS 6:17
And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God.
The word of God can be used as a weapon, in times of crisis or difficulty you can confess (speak out and claim) the word of God concerning your situation. For example, you can say:
Thank you, Lord, that you always cause me to triumph in every challenge. (2 Corinthians 2:4) I claim victory in my present situation in Jesus’ name.
Or you can say:
No weapon formed against me shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17) I declare no plan of the enemy shall succeed in Jesus name.
The word of God is also declared as the sword of the Spirit. It is part of the armour we need to put on each day to be able to stand against the devil. You can find details on this armour from Ephesians 6:10-17.
AS A FORMULA FOR SUCCESS
Joshua 18:8
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shall make thy way prosperous and then thou shalt have good success.
3 JOHN 2
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
The word of God can be used as a formula to obtain success. According to JOSHUA 1:8
Meditating On The Word Obeying All The Prosperity &
Day And Night + Word Says = Success
Like 3 John 2 says, God, desires that we prosper in all areas of our lives. Financially, physically and spiritually.
To be able to prosper we need to apply the formula given in Joshua 1:8.
CONCLUSION
Psalm 119:133
Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.
Let us make Psalm 119:133 our prayer each day. Ask God to guide you by His word each day. And keep you away from sin.
