THE VISION IS FOR AN APPOINTED TIME
THE VISION IS FOR AN APPOINTED TIME
By Evangeline Unit Esaaba Folson
For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
According to the oxford English mini-dictionary a vision can be defined as having a mental image of future events. An appointed time is the set time, or the appropriate time set by God for an event to be fulfill or promised to be fulfilled.
The bible talks about ‘vision’ one of such verses can be found in Joel 2:28
And it shall come to pass afterwards, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and daughters will prophesy, your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men shall dream, dreams your young men shall see vision.
Meaning, in the last days’ people are going to have visions about what is going to happen.
The emphasis however, in this article is not on visions for the last days but visions about our lives and how we see ourselves in the next few years. I will elaborate on about three phrases in the verse quoted at the beginning:
- The vision is for an appointed time
Galatians 4:4
Zephaniah 4:6-7
- Though it tarry, wait for it
Isaiah 55:11
2 Peter 3:9
- It will surely come
Number 23:19
1 Thessalonians 5:24
The vision is for an appointed time
Zechariah 4:6-7
Then he answered and spake to me, saying, this is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit saith the Lord of Hosts
Who art thou, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel thou shall become a plan: and He bring forth the headstone thereof with shouting, crying Grace, grace unto it.
The passage above indicates that when you have a ‘vision’, a mental image of the future concerning your life, career or ministry you will face challenges (who art thou, O great mountain?) but if you do not rely on your own strength but call for help from God, then His Spirit will help you overcome these challenges and cause the vision to come to pass.
It is important to know that the challenges are not there to harm you, but to prepare you for the appointed or right time for the vision to materialize.
Galatians 4:4
But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth His Son, made of a woman, made under the law.
This implies that at the appointed time, the vision will surely come to pass. Nothing can stop it. No principality or power can hinder your progress or prevent you from receiving what is yours.
Though it tarry, wait for it
Isaiah 55:11
So shall my words be that goeth forth out of my mouth; it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the things whereto I sent it.
This implies that, sometimes the manifestation of your vision might delay but do not get discouraged. Wait patiently for it by praying and thanking God constantly for it to come to pass. Once God has spoken it will not fail. 2 Peter 3:9
Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contains wise blessing; knowing that ye should inherit a blessing.
Continue believing you will receive your promised blessing in spite of your circumstances and challenges.
It will surely come
Number 23:19
God is not a man, that He should lie; neither the son of man that He should repent! Hath He said, and shall he not do it? Or hath He spoken, and shall he not make it good?
The verse above confirms that God will not promise is in His word, Challenges may come, trials and obstacles may try to prevent your progress but it will surely come to pass.
1 Thessalonians 5:24
Faithful is He that calleth you who also will do it.
In the verse above Christians are being encouraged to rest assured that God is faithful (amazingly loyal and full of compassion) therefore, if He has given you an assignment as an ambassador of Christ (Matthew 28:19-20) He will provide everything you need to ensure that you are able to fulfill your assignment or complete your assignment.
