The race is not to the swift not the battle to the strong
The race is not to the swift nor the battle to the strong
By Evangeline Unity Esaaba Folson
Ecclesiastes 9:11
I returned and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favor to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.
According to human understanding or wisdom, the fastest man should win the race, but sometimes the fastest cannot endure to the end and the one with stamina wins. In the same way, the strongest man should win the battle, but you do not only need raw strength to win a battle, you need a good strategy.
Why do these things happen? The bible says in these above that “time and chance happeneth to them all”. Some bible translations, replace “time and chance happenth to them all” with the phrase “because accidents can happen to anyone”.
What is an accident? The Oxford English mini-dictionary defines an accident as an unplanned event causing damage or injury. How can we prevent accidents in life from destroying the purpose God planned for our lives? We can do this by!
- Accepting the gift of salvation
Ephesians 2:8-10
- By fulfilling the great commission
Matthew 28:19-20
John 15:7
- By exercising your faith
Hebrews 11:6
- By studying the word
2 Timothy 2:5
- By praying
Ephesians 6:18
- By worshiping the Lord always
Psalm100:4-5
By accepting the gift of salvation
Ephesians 2:8-10
For by grace are saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus. Unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
The passage above emphasizes that salvation is a gift we need to accept and receive humbly. We cannot boast that our good works or righteousness earned us our salvation. It is a gift. Furthermore “we were created unto good works”. this is translated in other bible versions as to do good things. God planned for these good things to be the way that we live our lives.
It could, thus, be said that our lives will be filled with good things. When you are born again or received the gift of salvation, your life is filled with good things, therefore, God will fund a way of delivering you from accidents in your life that would prevent you from experiencing the good things planned for your life (Jeremiah 29:11)
For I know the thoughts that I think towards you saith the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil. To give you a future and hope.
By fulfilling the great commission
Mathew 28:19-20 says,
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost! Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever, I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always: even unto the end of the world.
The passage above is referred to as the “great commission” in biblical theology. It was the last command Jesus gave before he departed from the world. It is, therefore, very important that we seek to obey this command. When we do so, there are many blessings that we can receive from the lord, including deliverance from accidents in life that could harm us or restoring our lives back to normal when an accident hurts us.
John 15:7 says
If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you
Meaning, if you obey God’s commands then whatever you ask for, you will receive including deliverance and restoration from accidents in life.
By exercising your faith
Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it si impossible to please Him (God); for that cometh to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.
If you want deliverance and restoration from accidents in life, then you must have faith in God. You must believe without any doubt that God can deliver and restore you from any accident, no matter how impossible it may seem
Trust in God, wait on Him in prayer and confession of His word and it shall come to pass, no matter the cost to Him because He is a faithful God. He is not a man that He should lie, He fulfills all His promises including being a rewarder of them who seek Him sincerely from a pure heart.
By studying the word
2 Timothy 2:15
Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
The word of God is one of the major weapons that we can use to fight the devil. In Matthew 4, when the devil tempted Jesus it was the word of God that Jesus used to fight off the devil.
Jesus knew the word that is why you need to study the word of God thoroughly so you will know what to use in each battle or challenge.
As soon as the devil threw the missile of temptation, Jesus found the appropriate word to use to fight him off and He eventually had to flee because He knew, he had no chance of succeeding.
Jesus knew the word and he stood no chance of winning
By praying
Ephesians 6:18
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the spirit, and watering thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all students.
Prayer is also another major weapon every Christian must use in our lord’s prayer (Matthew 6:9-13) asking for deliverance from temptation (possible accidents) is one of the things mentioned in the model prayer.
It is therefore very important for every Christian to pray without ceasing or pray consistently (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
We should pray for sustenance at least as often as we eat daily to sustain our bodies in, morning, afternoon, and evening. It is very important. if you can pray more than three times a day do so, it will be very useful to you.
By worshiping the Lord always
Psalm 100:4-5
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise! Be thankful unto Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endureth to all generations.
Worshiping God involves, praising and thanking Him for His goodness and mercies. The psalmist says when we worship God we are able to enter through His gates unto his court.
Meaning, it brings us closer to God and causes Him to move on our behalf. Praising and worshiping God constantly, maintains the presence of God in your life and this protects you from accidents in life that can harm you.
Conclusion
The Lord is ready and willing to protect us from all humans or accidents in life, ours is to trust Him at all times with all our hearts and minds.
