The God Who Calls The Things That Be Not As Though They Were
The God Who Calls The Things That Be Not As Though They Were
By Evangeline Unity Esaaba folson
And God said, but there be light:
And there was light.
And God saw the light, that it was good! And God divided the light from the darkness.
The first two verse in Genesis 1 state that before God created the world, there was nothing. It says the world was without form and void”, simply put there was nothing and thick darkness covered the whole earth.
Then God, though, there had never been light, no light could make a great difference. He called forth light, which had never existed before then.
He called the thing that be not as though it were. The whole creation story came out of His own imagination and wisdom.
One of the gospel musicians in Ghana gave a great revelation on God’s wisdom and insight during creation (Diana Hamilton) she said when God created the world there was no electricity or electric poles but God insulated the feet of the bird such that it will not be electrocuted when it stood on the electric pole. He could see into the future Amazing right.
Revelation 1:8 says
I am Alpha and Omega the beginning and the ending, said the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
Meaning, everything begins and ends with God. There are 2 Bible Characters that highlight the wisdom and insight of God.
- Moses in the old testament
- The Apostle Paul in the New Testament.
Moses
Exodus Chapter 2 to Deuteronomy chapter 34
- Moses was born in a period where all male children of the Israelites who were slaves in Egypt were to be killed.
- This was due to the fact that the Israelites were out-numbering their masters the Egyptians
- Moses’ parent did not want him to be killed so hey placed him in a basket and put him on the river Nile with his sister nearby
- Pharaoh’s daughter came to swim in the Nile found the baby Moses and adopted him.
- He grew up as a Prince in the palace of Pharaoh with all the cultural and academic training of a Prince.
Why?
- God knew Moses will be instrumental in delivering his people from slavery.
- He knew the laws and customs of the Egyptians well enough to negotiate for the freedom of the Israelites
Lesson Form the Story
- Even before Moses was born God know his mission
- With his wisdom and insight He prepared constitutions that will train him well enough to fulfill his mission of delivering the Israelites from slavery.
- Nothing happens by chance in this world. The creator is constantly situations that will lead to the fulfillment of His purpose here on earth.
- Never be discouraged by your circumstances, it may only be a bridge leading you to your final destination of success. (Jeremiah 29:11)
The Apostle Paul
Acts 5 – Acts 28
- Paul was born and named Saul.
Paul was the name he was given after he had an encounter with God that changed his life
Acts 9.
- He was a Jew, trained as a Pharisee by the best Gamaliel. He was a learned man probably a “Doctor of book” or professor in our time.
- He hated Christians and tracked them everywhere to destroy them.
- At the appropriate time God transformed his life and gave him a ministry.
- He had to be a Pharisee in order to be trained well enough to write ¾ of the New Testament well in Hebrew.
- Peter, John, James etc. were mainly fishermen who had little or no training to write.
- God needed the knowledge and intelligence of the Apostle Paul to write his word. Some theologians call him the 13th Apostle though he was no one of the 12 who walked and worked with Jesus.
Lesson from Story
- The New Testament is a very important part of the Bible. Why?
- It brings out the setting and story surrounding salvation. It had to be written well.
- God is his wisdom and insights took the Apostle Paul through all the training and challenges in his life because of the work he was meant to do.
- Even his imprisonments might have been planned. It gave him time to write
- Outside prison, he did a lot of travelling to preach the gospel and had no time or little time to write.
- Your greatest setback in life may be your greatest set-up for your success.
Conclusion
When the God who calls the things that be not as though they were is in charge nothing happens by chance
Meditate On the Words Of This Song
I have had many tears and sorrows
I’ve had questions about tomorrow
There were times I did not
know right from wrong
but in every situation
God gave me blessed
Consolation
That my trials come
Only to make me
Strong
Chorus
Through it all
Through it all
I’ve learnt to trust
In Jesus
I’ve learnt to trust in
God
Oh if I never had a
Problem
I’ll never know that God
Could solve them
I’ll never know what
Faith is His word
Could do.
