The blood of Jesus
THE BLOOD OF JESUS
BY EVANGELINE UNITY ESAABA FOLSON
HEBREWS 9:22
And almost all things are by the law purged with blood, and without shading of blood is no remission (cancellation of debt or penalty).
MATTHEW 26:27-28
And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
In the Old Testament, the people of God had to sacrifice sheep and goats for the remission of their sins. But in the New Testament, after Jesus’s death and resurrection, the blood of Jesus was accepted for the sin of all the people of God, once and for all.
HEBREWS 10:2-4 says:
For them would they not have ceased to be offered? Because the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sin.
Buts in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.
For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
According to Hebrews 10:7-10 the blood of bulls and goats cannot atone completely for our sins because each year there was a need to sacrifice these animals. However, the blood of Jesus was able to give atonement for all sins once and for all. Those that had already been committed and those yet to be committed. The blood of Jesus was able to grant forgiveness for all because:
- Jesus was without sin, the lamb of God that was without sin or blemish. (2 Corinthians 5:21, 1 Peter 1:18-19).
- Jesus was God and man, the only son of God (Hebrews 5:8, Philippians 2:5-8)
- He sacrificed to die for our sins out of love. (John 15:13, John 3:16)
2 CORINTHIANS 5:21
For He hath made Him to be sin for us, who know no sin: that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.
1 PETER 1:8-19
For as much as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
The two bible quotations above, explain the fact that Jesus was without sin, flaw, or defect that is why His blood was able to save us and reconcile us to God.
There is no other being in heaven or earth that has these qualities. All other beings created by God have their shortfalls.
No man qualifies or was qualified to do the work Jesus did on the cross because we were all born in sin.
Adam and Eve’s sin was passed down to us.
God had no other choice, but to sacrifice His only begotten Son whom He dearly loved.
PHILIPPIANS 2:5-8
Let His mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
But made Himself of no reputation and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
And being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
HEBREWS 5:8-9
Though He were a Son, yet learned He obedience by the things which He suffered; And being made perfect, He became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey Him;
Jesus was God and man, the only being that has been able to take on the form of God and the form of a man. The task He performed here on earth was not an easy one.
A mere man could not have died and descended into hell to destroy the works of the evil one without this act man could not have been saved.
The blood of a human being could not also have atoned for the sins of all men in the present and in the future, (until Jesus comes back for His church people of God).
There is no one else who could have done what Jesus did.
HE SACRIFICED TO DIE FOR OUR SINS OUT OF LOVE
JOHN 15:13
Greater love hath no man than his, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
JOHN 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Jesus could have refused to do what His father requested but because He also loved us and did not want all of us to perish because of what the devil did to make Adam and Eve disobey God, He laid aside His glory and majesty. He gave everything for us. He suffered at the hands of those He had created.
In return for this great sacrifice, we have to:
- Surrender our lives to Him and be saved.
- Worship Him truly at all times.
- Thank Him always for what He has already done for us and will continue to do for us.
- Serve Him by being committed to the church and taking part in all church activities, crusades, evangelism, etc.
CONCLUSION
The message I have been trying to get across is that:
There is power
Wonderworking power in the blood of the Lamb (Jesus)
Do you want to be free from the burden of sin?
Do you want to have victory over evil?
Then there is wonder-working power in the blood.
