That no flesh should glory in His presence
That no flesh should glory in His presence
By Evangeline Unity Esaaba Folson
But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty and base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to naught things that:
That no flesh should glory in His presence.
What does the bible mean by “That no flesh should glory in His presence”?
God will receive glory for God’s work, not man. That no flesh should glory in His presence. “That” is a term for strong purpose and ultimate end.
God shows that by rendering inoperative the philosophical systems of this world and choosing lesser powers for His purpose, all glory should go to Him.
The three verses quoted above will be explained further.
1 Corinthians 2:27
But god hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and god hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are might.
The verse above explains why god chooses the weak and despised people or vessels. In such people His glory or power is perfected and no one can boast that he/she has exceptional power.
For example, if God chooses someone who is uneducated or partially educated, and comes from a poor family and this person is able to build a chain of industries and businesses through hard work and diligence and is proposed by God. He cannot boast that he did it Himself. Because such a miracle in the life of a poor,
uneducated person can only be accomplished by Almighty God Yahweh.
The glory then goes to no one else but God.
Or a patient is declared to have a terminal disease in an advanced stage. Nothing can be done to save his life. He is sent home to die. Then suddenly after prayer, fasting and anointing with oil he regains his health. They glory goes to no one else but God.
That is what is meant in the verse that God chooses the weak and despised people or vessels. In such people His glory or power is perfected and no one can boast that he/she has exceptional power.
For example, if God chooses someone who is uneducated or partially educated, and comes from a poor family and this person is able to build a chain of industries and businesses through hard work and diligence and is prospered by god.
He cannot boast that he did it Himself. Because such a miracle in the life of a poor, uneducated person can only be accomplished by Almighty God Yahweh.
The glory then goes to no one else but God.
Or a patient is declared to have a terminal disease in an advanced stage. Nothing can be done to save his life. He is sent home to die. Then suddenly after prayer, fasting and anointing with oil.
He regains his health.
The glory goes to no one else but god.
That is what is meant in the verse that god chooses the weak and despised things of this world to confound or surprise and confuse the world.
1 Corinthians 21:28
And base things of the world which are despised hath God choses, year, and things which are not, to bring to naught things that are:
The second verse in the passage also re-emphasizes the fact that God often chooses things and people the world has no hope in or has no respect for. His aim is to prove to the world that what may seem impossible to men, is possible with god (Matthew 19:26)
No other person or deity can do what He does freely in exchange for nothing Mathew 10:8 says
Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils. Freely ye have received. Freely give.
1 Corinthians 2:29
That no flesh should glory in his presence.
The verse above means god will receive glory for God’s work, not man that no flesh should glory in His presence. That is a term for strong purpose and ultimate end. God shows that by rendering inoperative the philosophical systems of this world and choosing lesser powers for His purpose, all glory shall go to Him.
Isaiah 42:8 says
I am the Lord; that is my name?
I will not give my glory to anyone else, nor share my praise with carved idols.
Isaiah 48:9-11
Explains that god alone is worthy of all glory. God is driven with zeal for His own glory. He alone is worthy of all glory. This is one of the clearest pictures we have in God’s word, or something we see all over God’s word, but it’s so cry stalized here how God is driven with zeal for His own glory.
Meditate on the words of this song.
We give you glory
And honor
You are the Lord
Let your name
Be GLORIFIED.
