Watch your motive!!
Psalm 37:4
Delight yourself on the Lord, and He shall grant you the desires of your heart.
Your motive is what is your motivation for any action you take. God looks at your motivation or what prompts you to take an action and not necessarily the action.
For instance you may give excessively to charity because you want everybody to think you are generous and God – fearing. But then in your heart you do not respect or have regard for Jehovah God Almighty.
The verse above says ‘Delight yourself in the Lord” meaning, seek to please God in all you do. Volunteer to work in church, go soul winning, mentor the youth, bring your children up in the fear of the Lord etc. All with the aim of pleasing God.
The bible says in Psalm 27:4 that
One thing have I asked for and that will I seek after, to dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life to behold the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in His temple. ( Paraphrased)
Everything we do and say as christians should be to glorify the name of the Lord.
Ephesians 6:6
Not with eye-service, as men-pleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart.
This verse from the new testament, brings to light a major human trait, seeking to impress or being men-pleasers, so we will be accepted and raised in status.
We should rather seek to do the will of God from the heart always.

1. Check your motive before you do anything. You should always seek to please God.

Christ was kind and gentle

And His little children( followers)
Must be holy too
