Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart; wait I say on the Lord.
To wait for the Lord means to delay action on a particular problem or event until you receive an answer to your prayers.
It also implies that you continue in prayer, praise and worship expecting the Lord to move at anytime.
