To obey is better than to sacrifice
1Samuel 15:22
And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold to obey is better than to sacrifice…..

Some of God’s commands are difficult to obey. For example Matthew 5:39 which says if someone slaps your right cheek turn the left as well for a slap (paraphrased). But then the verse above says it is better to obey than to sacrifice.

In my opinion to sacrifice means to disobey and then try to pacify God with a large thanks offering to the church or to the poor.

Hebrews 3:15
While it is said, Today if ye hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in provocatioñ.

Another scenario of disobedience or not obeying God’s commands has to do with postponing what you can do now to a later date.

For instance, you hear the message of salvation , then instead of responding immediately by giving your life to Jesus, you decide to wait for a while.

The verse above says, today when you hear His voice, harden not your heart.
God be with you

How can I apply the word to my life?
1. Pray and ask God to help you obey all His commands no matter how difficult they are.

Dear God, thank you for the gift of another week. Help me live to please you at all times. Amen.
