The power of a song!!
Psalm 96:1-3
Sing a new song to the Lord. He has done great things for us

Songs play a very prominent role in the life of humans:
– It is used for teaching or education especially for children in nursery etc.
-It is used for entertainment to help people express their joy and excitement.
– It is used in medicine as a therapy to help stress and depressed patients to relax
– It is used in spiritual worship here on earth and in heaven.

The verse above encourages us to sing a new song to the Lord. In the bible we can find songs sang by various people to express joy and gratitude to God:

-The song Moses sang after the Israelites passed through the sea safely and escaped from the Egyptians (Exodus 15)

– The Israelites sang again when the walls of Jericho came down (Joshua 6)

– They sang to encourage themselves when they were in captivity in Babylon. (Psalm 137)

I have come to believe that God gives His ministrels songs that meet people’s needs to help them overcome their challenges and express their gratitude.

In times of trouble and anxiety, singing songs like:
– The hymn great is thy faithfulness gives a lot of relief, or
-Cece Winan’s your goodness is running after me brings consolation, or
-Diana Hamilton’s I am a work in progress brings hope, or
– Sinache’s Way maker gives encouragement, or
– Evangeline’s You are my strength and my reward reaffirms your faith.

Luke 1:46-56
….. I am ecstatic, my heart is overflowing with praise to God……

This passage from the new testament is an example of songs you can find in the new testament.

Learn to sing frequently to God as your way of worship and thanksgiving. It will cause God to move on your behalf.

How can I apply the word to my life?
1. Sing your way through all challenges.

Let this song be your prayer and confession

We’ve got a holy God
Who inhabits our praises
A holy God

The praises of His people

I will sing praise
In the midst of the great congregation
And I will praise Him and magnify His name
For He is worthy to be praised
Amen
