The mystery of pain
Job 13:15
Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him: but I will maintain mine own ways before Him
Pain is something everyone hates. Everyone has his/her own limit of pain that can be endured.
In the verse above Job says he has so much reverence for God, therefore, if He allows all the pain in his life, He has a greater purpose and plan for his life, he will continue to trust God and live right. God’s plan and purpose will come to pass.
This attitude carried Job through the toughest time in his life. When the trial was over, Job passed the test and God restored all he had lost and even gave him ten times more because Job trusted God.(Job 42:12-13).
In life, we sometimes have difficult trials and temptations but if we are able to endure the pain to the end without losing our trust in God, He will reward us greatly.
2 Corinthians 12:8-9
For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the grace of Christ might rest upon me
The Apostle Paul is another example of someone who endured pain and was greatly rewarded because of his trust in God.
He said, he had a thorn in his flesh, he did not say what it was, but because he referred to it as a thorn, it was causing him pain.
Though God did not take the thorn away as he said, he continued to work zealously for God. At the end of his life, he had accomplished so much. He wrote about two- thirds of the new testament and is the reason why gentiles tasted of the gift of salvation.
Your pain should not make you bitter, it should rather make you draw closer to God.
God be with you.
How can I apply the word to my life?
1. You may have a “thorn in your flesh” or you may be facing a trial, remember God can work everything together for your good like He did for Job and the Apostle Paul, keep trusting Him.
Prayer
Let this be your prayer
I am trusting thee Lord Jesus
Trusting only thee
Trusting thee for full salvation
Great and free
I am trusting, trusting only thee
Amen
