Stay on the narrow path [November 2,2021]

Daily Word

Stay on the narrow path
Isaiah 35:8
And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called the way of holiness: the unclean shall not pass over it ……

Another translation says

A road will be there and a way; it will be called the Holy Way. The unclean will not travel on if, but it will be for him who walks the path ….,

The Holy Way in the verse above refers to the way of life, the children of God are expected to adopt:
– Calling on the Lord at all times (Jeremiah 33:3)
_Studying the word and obeying it (Psalm 119:11)
-Doing good to all men (Ecclesiastes 11:1)

Matthew 7:13-14
Enter ye in at the strait (narrow) gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

In the passage above the christian life is being compared to a narrow road.

It is easy to walk on a broad road (living according to the way of the world). Often the road is wide enough to have two or more people walk with you encouraging you as you walk leisurely.

On the narrow road ( the way of the Lord or christian life) the road is very small, you cannot have people walking by your side encouraging you always. The road is so small and you have to scale through, therefore you cannot walk leisurely, you have limited time to accomplish the work of the Lord. Jesus may come anytime. It is a lonely road because most people will prefer to walk on the broad road.

Ask the Lord through prayer to help you stay on the narrow road because it leads to eternal life. The road may rough and dreary but keep on moving, the Lord will see you through.
God be with you

How can I apply the word to my life?
1. Do not get discouraged by the discomfort you face as a christian, look up to Jesus, stay on the narrow road.

Prayer

Let this hymn be your prayer

Courage brother do not stumble
Though thy path be dark as night
There is a star to guide the humble
Trust in God and do the right

Though the road be rough and dreary
And it’s end far out of sight
Foot it bravely
Strong or weary
Trust in God
And do the right
Amen.
