Make me an instrument of your peace!!
Isaiah 26:3
Thou wilt keep Him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

The usual dictionary definition of “peace’ is the absence of war, conflict or noise. Or being calm and quiet.

However, the biblical definition of peace emphasizes on being calm or quiet in the midst of chaos or confusion.

That is the message in the verse quoted above. It says God gives peace to those who focus on Him or put their trust in Him in the time of chaos or uncertainty.

Being ” an instrument of God’s ( your) peace” therefore is allowing God to use you to bring calmness, certainty and unity in the time of chaos or confusion.

Scripture says in Psalm 46:10 that

Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the heathen , I will be exalted in the earth. ( Paraphrased)

This is God’s direction to His children in the time of uncertainty. Do not fret or worry ( Be still) , just keep trusting me. I will move on your behalf.

Matthew 5:9
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

This verse from the new testament highlights the fact that it may be difficult to be an instrument of God’s peace.

However, it is a worthy cause because there are rewards. It makes you the child of God.

Entitled to all the benefits and heritage that a child receives from his/ her parents. Protection, provision of all needs and wants, comfort, satisfaction and the right to all the family’s wealth and resources

But this time not from a human parent but your heavenly Father who has unlimited power and resources.

Accept the gift of salvation that makes you a child of God and the instrument of God’s peace
God be with you

How can I apply the word to my life?

1. Trust in God and do what is right

Where there is injury pardon
Where there is doubt, faith
Where there is despair hope
Where there is darkness, light
Where there is sadness, joy

Mon Dieu donne aux tous le monde la paix
Je veux donner la parole de la Bible au tous le monde
Pour soigner les malades
Pour librer les prisoniers….
Amen
