Love lifted me
Psalm 23:6
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

“Love lifted me ” is the title of a song written by James Rowe. The words were drawn from the story of Jesus and His disciples at sea in the book of Matthew in the bible.

Mr. Rowe compares the story of Jesus and His disciples sinking in water to that of sinking in sin. The Lord can lift us up and out of even the deepest pit of sin we find ourselves in.

Scripture says in 1 Peter 4:8 that

….love covers a multitude of sins.

God loves us all but He hates sin. He will do whatever it takes to deliver us from sin. The great sacrifice has already been made by God to save us and He will ensure everyone accepts this great gift of salvation.

Because He loves us so much, the Psalmist in the verse above emphasizes that God’s goodness ( kindness) and mercy ( compassion) will follow us all the days of our lives.

John 15:13
Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down His life for his friends

This verse from the new testament reminds us that the great love of God exhibited at Calvary’s cross cannot be compared to any other.

The love of God surpasses all other kinds of love. It can lift us from sin and make us great ambassadors for Christ, winning souls for the kingdom of God.
