Joy in the house of God
Nehemiah 8:10
The joy of the Lord is your strength

Biblical joy does not depend on circumstances or events. It is provided by the Lord and it is ever present in our hearts as christians and we only have to tap into it in bad times when it is difficult to have joy.

There is a Sunday school song that says:
Joy, joy, my heart is full of joy
Joy, joy my heart is full of joy
My Savior dear is ever near
That’s the reason why my heart is full of joy.

We always have joy because our Lord is constantly by our side like the song says.

Habakkuk 3:17-18 says
Though the fig tree fails to blossom, neither shall there be fruit in the vines; the labor of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:
Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

The passage above confirms that joy does not depend on circumstances. Though the Prophet Habakkuk was faced with very bleak circumstances, he could still rejoice in the Lord and joy in the God of his salvation.

Another way we can find joy even in unpleasant circumstances is by being in the house of God or worshipping together with other believers.

Psalm 23:6 confirms this. I believe the Psalmist wants to dwell in the house of the Lord forever because there is joy in the house of the Lord.

1 Thessalonians 5:15-16
Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and everyone. Rejoice always

When you strive or make the effort to do good all the time, you can rejoice always because being good gives satisfaction and attracts the favor of God. Do not be weary in well-doing ; for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.( Galatians 6:9)

1. Do good at all times to stimulate and maintain your joy in the Lord.
