Jehovah Tsidkenu
Jeremiah 23:5-6
Behold the days come, saith the Lord, that I will raise unto David a righteous branch, and a king shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgement and justice in the earth. In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel and shall dwell safely: and this is name whereby he shall be called, The Lord our righteousness
Jehovah Tsidkenu means the God of my righteousness. Righteousness is an attribute that belongs to God. It is a God-given quality that is imputed on man through His Son Jesus.
No man can be righteous by his/her own abilities. Isaiah 64:6 says
All our righteousness is like filthy rags before God.
Accept the gift of salvation and be made righteous.
2 Corinthians 5:17 says
If any man be in Christ, he is a new creation. Old things have passed away, Behold all things have become new
Romans 5:8
But God commendeth His love towards us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us
This verse from the new testament confirms that righteousness is imputed on us as we accept the gift of salvation.
The verse also emphasizes that God loves us greatly because when we were still sinners Christ died to save us.
Continue to be faithful to God, obey His commands and live to please Him.
