It is a great thing to serve the Lord!!
Psalm 84:11
For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly
“It is a great thing to serve the Lord” means dedicating your life to obeying the Lord’s commands in His word faithfully ( serving the Lord) has several rewards and benefits.
Some of these benefits and rewards are mentioned in the verse above
They are;
– The Lord will be your sun and shield ( Guide and protector)
– The Lord will give you grace and glory ( You will receive God’s favor and honor)
– He will provide all the good things you need in your life ( no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly)
Scripture also says that
Those that trust in God shall be like mount Zion which cannot be moved
Meaning, those who trust in God are able to withstand all kinds of challenges without losing their faith and joy
Matthew 5:16
Let your light so shine among men that they may see your good and glorify your Father in heaven
This verse from the new testament gives Christians directions on what they should do to glorify God and maintain the joy of serving God
We are to let our light shine by doing good works. Giving to the poor and vulnerable in society. Sharing your possessions with others and giving to promote the gospel or God’s work.
