Check your motive
Daniel 3:16
..O king Nebuchadnezzar we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.

Most of the time humans have ulterior motives or major reasons for every action or project undertaken. For example a student may go for holiday classes in a school with teachers who are examiners so they will receive directions on how to answer exam questions. You might have all the required information but the way you present it may cause you to fail.

A worker might take a second degree or professional course to improve his/ her qualification so income can increase and they move to higher positions in their organization.

An ambassador for Christ might plan to make more friends to set the stage to present the gospel etc.

In the same way we must check the reasons behind our actions when we come before God. During worship or praise time some do not worship genuinely but just put up a facade to please others and give the impression that they are “holy” or “very spiritual”

John 4:24 says
God is Spirit and those who worship Him must worship in Spirit and I truth.

Hebrews 11:6 also says
……for whoever comes to God must believe that He exists and He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him

God desires genuine and sincere worship. Even in our prayer requests we must be genuine and sincere and have a good motive.

Evil motives behind prayer requests might cause delays in response from God.

Romans 12:2
Do not conform to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.

This verse from the new testament describes the kind of motive, God desires. Our requests, way of worship and lifestyle should follow the pattern of biblical characters especially our Lord Jesus Christ.
God be with you

How can I apply the word to my life?
1. Preach about Christ and live for Christ.

Prayer
Let this song be your prayer

Be still my soul
The Lord is on thy side
Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain
Leave to thy Lord to order and provide
In every change
He faithful will remain
Be still my soul
Thy best thy heavenly friend
Through thorny ways
Leads to a joyful end.
Amen
