Be harmless but wise!!
Joshua 1:9
Have I not told you to be strong and of courage?…. For I the Lord your God am with you whithersoever thou goest.

In the verse above God was talking to Joshua. He had been given the assignment of completing Moses’ task of leading the people of Israel to the promised land.

He had worked closely with Moses and knew how the people could be stubborn and difficult to please. This was not an easy task and he would definitely be scared.

God reassured him he will be with him always just as He was with Moses, directing, strengthening, protecting and empowering to perform miracles when necessary.

In the same way, Christians have been given the assignment of bringing the rest of the world who do not believe in God to the kingdom of God.

This is a difficult task because the evil one will not sit unconcerned as we pull people from his kingdom to the kingdom of God. He will also launch an attack on us.

God’s a  word to us is “be harmless but wise” Meaning, we should act intelligently and wisely as we complete our assignment. In addition to this we must also seek counsel from the Holy Spirit who is with us always.

The bible says in Zechariah 4:6 that

…… not by power nor by might but by my Spirit saith the Lord of hosts. ( paraphrased)

Matthew 10:16-17
Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore, be as wise as serpents and harmless as doves.

This verse from the new testament gives a very good description of our assignment as ambassadors of Christ.

Let’s remember to pray and ask for protection and guidance before we step out in faith to win souls.
