Aim for higher ground
Psalm 46:10
Be still and know that I am God, I will be exalted among the heathen. I will be exalted in the earth

To aim for higher ground is to turn your back on petty, trivial and unworthy issues and instead focus on being faithful to God and loving your neighbor as yourself.

It is not easy to remain faithful to God always and also love your neighbor as yourself. The verse above says “Be still” meaning stop worrying and fretting about your challenges and turn them over to God in prayer. He will make a way.

Philippians 4:6-7 says
Have no anxiety about anything but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Pray for grace and strength to be faithful to God and to love your neighbor as yourself.

1 John 4:4
….greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world

This verse from the new testament reminds us that, the God who lives in us, has all power. There is no other power that can supercede His.

How can I apply the word to my life?
1. Seek to obey God’s commands always.

Prayer
Let this hymn be your confession and prayer

Am pressing on
The upward way
New heights am gaining everyday
Still praying as am onward bound
My prayer, my aim is higher ground

Lord lift me up
And let me stand
By faith on heaven’s table land
A higher plain, than I have found
Lord plant my feet on higher ground
