Plan for good and not for evil
Plan for good and not for evil
By Evangeline Unity Esaaba Folson
For I know the thought that I think towards you saith the Lord. Thought of good and not of evil to give you a future and a hope.
Sometimes it is hard to believe that through all the challenges and difficulties, Go has your welfare at heart.
How can Joseph accept that his:
- Betrayal by his brothers
- Being sold unto slavery
- Imprisonment for a crime he did not commit.
Will all work together for his good? Read Genesis 39 –
I would not be easy for job for Job to believe and accept that after losing everything he had, god could still bless him excessively? Read the book of Job
To be able to accept, believe and hope in spite of challenging circumstances that god has something good for you will depend on!
- Your faith in god
Jeremiah 29:11
1 Thessalonians 5:24
Hebrews 11:1
- Your belief in the goodness of God
Psalm 23 : 6
Lamentations 3:22-23
Romans 8:28
- Learning to wait on God’s trimming
- Ecclesiastes 3:1-2
- Habakkuk 2:3
John 14:1
Relieving
- You can do all things through Christ
Zachariah 4:6
Philippians 4:13
Your faith in God
In Jeremiah 29:11 quoted above, God assures us that He has our welfare at heart. No Matter what happens, if you hold fast to the profession of your faith and keep trusting Him, He will give you an expected end or a future you will be proud of.
1 Thessalonians 5:24
Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it. God keeps His promises to us.
2 Corinthians 1:20 says for all the promises of God in Him are yea, and in Him Amen (In Him yes and amen) unto the glory of god by us.
Once He has promised, He will do it or I will be fulfilled.
- If he says He will never leave you nor forsake you (Joshua 1:5) consider it done
- If He says… lo I am with you always even to the end of the age (Matthew 28:20) He is constancy by you
Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things no seen.
For human, “seeing is believing” is our motto. But in the things of God, “You believe though you do not see”. The bible says in John 20:28-29
…Blessed is he who believes even though he has not seen (paraphrased)
Your belief in the goodness of God
Psalm 23:6
Surely, goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Goodness and mercy refers to the kindness and compassion of God towards His children. God always ensures that all mankind are well catered for!
- Enough air for everyone to breath
- Enough water and food to nourish everybody
- Shelter and clothing for all
- Spiritual and physical protection for all.
Lamentations 31:22-23
It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassion fails not. They are new every morning! Great is thy faithfulness.
The passage above says that is because of the Lord’s goodness or kindness that we are not destroyed or consumed by many of the evil one’s traps or dubious plans. God’s kindness and compassion are refilled and compassion are refilled and refreshed each morning to meet all our needs.
Romans 8:28
For we know that all things work together for the good of them that love God who are called according to His purpose
The verse above explains that god is able to put together the good and bad events (all things) in our lives such that we can benefit from them all.
Learning to wait on god’s timing
Ecclesiastes 3:1-2
To everything there is season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. A time to be born and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up (harvest) that which is planted.
This passage draws our minds to the fact that God works with time and He has a time to act. He is not one second late or early, He is right on time.
Habakkuk 2:3
For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it, it will surely come, it will not tarry.
In the verse above the Prophet Habakkuk is explaining God’s promise or covenant. Whatever, He has promised to do will be done at the appointed time, even if it delays, there is no need to be anxious for it shall surely come to pass.
John 14:1
Lest not your heart be troubled ye believe in God, believe also in me.
This verse further confirms that delays in receiving from god are not necessarily denials. God knows the right time it will be more beneficial to you.
Believing you can do all things
Zachariah 4:6
Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.
God in this verse tries to emphasize the fact that there are some things we cannot do only by our human strength but we need the spirit of God to enable us perform excellently.
Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
With God on our side, there is nothing we cannot do. His spirit will strengthen us where we fall short, if we need wisdom, He will give us wisdom, energy? He will give us energy and any other thing we need to perform our tasks or assignments perfectly.
