Order Your Steps in thy Word
Order Your Steps in thy Word
By Evangeline Unity Esaaba Folson
(Aunty Evangeline)
Key Verse
Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.
“Order my steps” means direct or regulate or monitor my steps such that I do not go away or wander from the “narrow path” described in the bible.
Matthew 7:13-14
Enter ye in at the straight gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in there at.
Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few be that find it.
The passage above says it is very easy to stray from God’s good path for us. Because like a narrow road or thin bridge you have to scale through or walk delicately on the thin rop. Your get tired and would want to make life easier for yourself.
Therefore, we have to pray always for God to help us scale through or squeeze through the narrow path.
Apart from praying for grace to stay on the narrow path, we also have to
Study the word
Joshua 1:8, Psalm 119:105
Apply the word to your life
Psalm 119:11
2 Timothy 2:15
Seek to please God in all you do
Psalm 19:14
Matthew 5:16
Study the word
Joshua 1:8
This book of law shall not depart out of your mouth but you shall meditate on it day and night that you may be careful to do according to all that is written therein: for them that shalt make thy way prosperous and then thou shalt have good success.
Psalm 119:105
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto thy path.
The two verses above give two important functions of the word or the bible.
It is our guide and manual and we must live what is says.
That is in Joshua 1:8
The Psalm 119:105 says the word or bible gives us light in darkness or clarifies thing when we are confused or do not know what to do.
For example you lost your wrist watch. You have searched all over our house for it but you cannot find it
Matthew 7:7 says
Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find knock and the door will be open unto you.
You will be surprised that when you stop to pray and search once again you will find it.
Apply the word to your life
Psalm 119:11
Thy word have I hid in my heart that I may not sin against you.
2 Timothy 2:15
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a work seen that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
As Christians we should live by the word. In times when we are not clear on what action to take, we should turn to the bible first.
For direction and pray for grace and strength to be able to do or apply what the word of God is directing us to.
Seek to please God in all you do
Psalm 19:14
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer
Matthew 5;16
Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
Whatever, you plan to do or say, stop for a second I am going to do or say give glory to God. if the answer is no, then do not do it.
