My God shall supply all my needs
My God shall supply all my needs
By Evangeline Unity Esaaba Folson
But my God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
The verse above is a promise from God to supply or provide all our needs. A similar promise can be found in the Old Testament:
Psalm 23:1
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. We shall not want because God will supply all we need. Some translations say: The Lord is my shepherd I have everything I need.
Why does God assure us in two similar verses that He will supply all our needs? God created us, He knows our weaknesses as humans:
- We tend to worry about every little problem (Philippians 4:6-7)
- We find it difficult to be still (Psalm 46:10)
- We are prone to fear (Psalm 27:1, Isaiah 41:10)
- We find it difficult to wait for God to move on our behalf (Psalm 27:13-14, Isaiah 40:31)
We tend to worry about every little problem
Philippians 4:6-7
Be careful for nothing: but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanks giving let your requests be made known unto God.
And peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your heart and minds through Christ Jesus.
The above passage is not the only on that encourages Christians not to worry. There are others like:
- Psalm 46:10
Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the heathen…
- Isaiah 26:3
He will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Him
- Psalm 138:8
The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me…
- Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.
- Ecclesiastes 3:11
He hath made everything beautiful in His time…
- Psalm 27:14
Wait on the Lord, be of good courage…
All these verses assure us that when we trust in God or cast all our burdens unto Jesus He will make a way. There is no need to worry. These are not the only verse there are many many more.
God said He will supply our need let’s wait patiently. He is not man that He should lie (Numbers 23:19).
We find it difficult to be still
Psalm 46:10
Be still and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
Humans have the false impression that, when we keep busy, calling friends and Pastors to ask for help, working exceptionally hard, staying awake all night trying to find solutions then our problems will be resolved.
According to the verse above keeping busy will not help, just be still, praying and waiting patiently for God to move. God needs no help, He requires us to be obedient to His commands (John 15:7) then He will move on our behalf.
We are prone to fear
Isaiah 41:10
Fear thou not; for I am with thee, be not be dismayed; for I am thy God: I will help thee , yea , I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness
Psalm 27:1
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
Once you believe that God is in charge of your life, there is no need to fear or worry, He will supply your need as He has promised. That is what the two verses quotes above assures us.
Matthew 6:27 says
Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
Worry and fear are useless they can never solve our problems they only rob us of the little strength we have to engage in long hours of prayer, praise and thanks giving.
We find it difficult to wait for God to move
Psalm 27:13-14
I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say on the Lord.
Isaiah 40:31
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint. The two passages quoted assured us that good things are received by those who are patient. Those who pray and prefer to wait for God’s timing. Those who trust that God knows best and can work all things together for our God (Romans 8:28) He will provide or supply our need just in time and when we need it most. Let’s keep trusting Him.
