JESUS CAME THAT WE MAY HAVE LIFE
JESUS CAME THAT WE MAY HAVE LIFE
By Evangeline Unity Esaaba Folson
10:9 I am the door by me if any man enters in, he shall be saved and shall go in and out and find pasture
10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal and to kill, and to destroy. I come that they might have it more abundantly
10:11 I am the good shepherd, the good shepherd giveth its life for the sheep
10:12 But he that is a hire lung, and not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.
We all know that we celebrate the birth of our lord and savior Jesus Christ during Christmas. The son of God, a member of the trinity and God himself was born of a virgin and became man and dwelled among men.
Why did God allow all this to happen? Was it not possible to save man or humans in any other way?
Hebrews 4:15 -16 Says
For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our information, but was in points tempted lick we are, yet without sin let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in the time of need
He came us man in other that he may experience our weakness and be able to plead with God and forgive us our sins and give us another chance. Whenever we fall into sun because of the work he did on the cross. To understand the role of Jesus plays as our mediator and shepherd, each verse in the passage quoted John 10:9 -12 will be explained
John 10:9
Another translation says: I am the gate. Those who enter the sheep pen through me will be saved. They will go through me will go in and out of the sheep pen and find food.
According to the verse quoted above, Jesus is the only way through which you can enter the sheep pen or kingdom of God. There is no other way. When you enter through Jesus, that is by accepting the gift of salvation (ROMANS 10:9 -12) you will find rest, food and nourishment for your soul. Jesus is the good shepherd and he will ensure that you are safe, by defending you from all attacks of the evil one and pleading with God on your behalf when ypou fall into sin. Because of the work Jesus did on the cross, God will willingly give you another chance to prove yourself as a faithful follower and ambassador for Christ.
John 10:10
The ‘thief’ in this in this verse, is the evil one or devil. He is referred to as the ‘thief’ because his major aim is to snatch as many people as possible from the kingdom of God, who can join him to burn eternally in hell
His tricks used to snatch men from the kingdom of God includes
Stealing (taking by force and illegally from the kingdom of God)
KILLING (deceiving men in such a way that will cause them to disobey God. Like God told Adam and Eve, the day they disobey Him and eat the forbidden fruit, they will die Gensis 3:3)
Destroy (Setting evil traps for the children of god to harm them or put them in danger)
Jesus came that we might have life and have it more abundantly. The lord came to save us and give us the opportunity to have eternal life or everlasting life. Life that never ends spent in the presence of god, praising and worshiping Him always like the four and twenty elders in Revelations 4:10-11 do
John 10:11
Another translation of the verse above says:
I am the good shepherd, who is willing to die for the sheep.
No matter how much you love someone, as humans, I believe there are few if any that will be willing to die for their loved ones.
John 15:13 says:
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
Jesus died for us because of the great love He has for us.
a song writer wrote!
——— they drove nails through my hands,
pierced my side, please understand
it wasn’t easy but it was worth it.
Like the good shepherd and mediator, Jesus keep us safe and free from all attacks and danger no matter what it will cost Him. He came that we might have life full of joy and hope.
John 10:12
No one apart from the good shepherd will be willing to protect His sheep from all kinds of danger. A hired shepherd will flee and leave the sheep at the slightest indication of danger. He does not love the sheep because:
They do not belong to Him
He paid no price to obtain the sheep
Jesus paid the highest price to save us from sin, shedding his own blood. Because of the blood he shed on the cross, He cleansed us from our sin and made us new creations (2 Corinthians 5:17) with hope of having eternal life. (john 3:16)
Jesus gave His all for us, what are we willing to give in return for this great love?
The best we can do is to surrender our live to Him, accept the gift of salvation (romans 10;9-10) and fulfill the “Great Commission” (Matthew 28:19-20).
