I know my redeemer liveth
I know my redeemer liveth
By Evangeline Unity Esaaba Folson
For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that He shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
The Good News Bible, translates the verse above as:
But I know there is someone in heaven who will come at last to my defense.
Meaning, the Lord our redeemer (someone in heaven) will defend us on the last day when we stand before God in judgement.
These are very comforting words for anyone, Christian or non-Christian living in a world today which is full of violence, crime and injustice.
The Lord our redeemer will come to our defense whenever we faced with challenges. This is confirmed in the bible by the following verses:
- Isaiah 47:4
- Revelation 22:12
- Isaiah 41:14
- Isaiah 44:6
- 1 John 1:9
- Romans 8:38-39
Isaiah 47:4
Isaiah 47:4
As for our redeemer, the Lord of hosts is His name, the Holy one of Israel.
The verse above confirms that we have a redeemer who is the Lord of hosts. His name is the Holy one of Israel.
Lord of hosts means He is the commander and chief of all heavenly and Spiritual Beings He is also the Holy one of Israel because He is fair and just and has no sin. We can be sure that He will defend us fairly as He has no favorites.
Revelations 22:12
Revelation 22:12
And, behold, I come quickly and my reward is with me: to give every man according to as his work shall be.
Not only will our redeemer defend us when we stand before the judgement seat of God, but He will also reward those who have served faithfully in the Kingdom of God.
Isaiah 41:14
Isaiah 41:14
Fear not …Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the Lord, and thy redeemer, the Holy one of Israel.
In the verse above, God again assures His people that He will help them because He is their redeemer, the Holy one of Israel.
He has helped them several times:
- Parted the red sea for them to walk through on dry land
- Delivered them from captivity Babylon and other place
He has done it before and He will do it again
1 John 1:9
1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse Us from unrighteousness.
According to the verse above, if we confess our sins (formally declare our sins to God), He will clean us from all unrighteousness and make us whole and blameless.
Just as if we have committed no sin at all by doing this our Redeemer prevent us from receiving the punishment we deserve for our sins.
Romans 8:38-39
Romans 8:38-39
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, no depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus Our Lord.
The passage above assures us that, there is nothing we can think of in this world or among God’s creation that can separate us from the love of God.
The love of God is available in unlimited quantities each day to meet various needs. Those that need comfort will be comforted, those that need encouragement will be encouraged and those that need affirmation of God’s love will receive it.
Lamentations 3:22-23 says
The steadfastness love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never will come to an end. They are new every morning great is thy faithfulness.
Our redeemer, is always available and willing to give us the love we need.
Conclusion
Our redeemer indeed lives and there is no need to entertain any fear about our future. “Jehovah Overdo” our redeemer can do much, much more than we can ever ask or think (Ephesians 3:20)
