I am your Worship, Lord!!!
By Evangeline Unity Esaaba Folson
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
Another translation says:
The offerings of God are a broken spirit, a broken and sorrowing heart, O God, you will not put from you.
What is a sacrifice?
The simplest and easiest to understand definition of a sacrifice is.
An offering made to God that would cost you.
If you make an offering God, in cash, words of worship, acts of worship, acts of giving to the needy that does not cost you then it is not a sacrifice it should cost you or you should feel the pain.
For example you have only Gh¢100 for a whole week, for food and transport and you give Gh¢50 to a friend in need. That is a sacrifice because you might have to
- Walk more because you have less money for transport
- Or go without food because you have less money for food. You might have to eat once a day instead of the twice a day you budgeted for.
What is worship in biblical terms?
Worship is the awed response to the saving acts and praiseworthy character of God. It is homage (public act of respect shown to someone) hindered to God which is sinful to render to any created being (Exodus 34:14).
How can you make your life worship to God? Or what do you mean by saying I am your worship Lord?
- Acknowledging always that God is your source of strength
- Psalm 27:1
- Psalm 27:14
- Philippians 4:13
- Dedicating your life to serve God.
- 1 Samuel 15:22
- Romans 12:2
- 1 Corinthians 9:27
Acknowledging always that God is the source of your strength
- Psalm 27:1
The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?
The verse above says the Lord is my guide and redeemer or deliverer (light and my salvation) therefore there is no need to fear. Furthermore, the Lord is my strength, in other words the Lord is the source of my energy and abilities fear should have no place in my life because God is the God of all flesh, He controls everything in the universe and there is nothing He cannot do. (Jeremiah 32:27)
2) Psalm 27:14
I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord. Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say on the Lord.
The tone of the message given is one of desperation. King David the Psalmist had reached the end of the road. The only thing that was sustaining him was his trust in God.
- He knew the word of God said “call on me and I will answer” implying that God will make a way when you trust Him. (Jeremiah 33:3)
- He knew also that God has good plans for our future as Jeremiah 29:11
So, he knew, come what may, God will make a way. His life was completely surrendered to God. He was in effect saying, I am your worship Lord.
- Philippians 4:13
I can do all thing through Christ which strengthenth me.
Simply put, the Apostle Paul was saying he lived and moved and had his being in Christ. All that he did was done through the grace and strength of God.
Dedicating your life to pleasing God
- 1 Samuel 15:22
And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
This verse reminds me of a conversation I heard a mother and daughter. Something happened and the mother asked her daughter to sit.
She said I will not sit then the mother repeated once more sit.
The young girl shook her head.
Then the mother pushed the girl to sit with force.
The little girl threw a temper tantrum.
Okay, I am sitting but in my heart I am standing sound very funny but that is how Christians young old behave.,
We know one of the 10 commandments says
Neither shalt thou bear false witness against thy neighbor or
Thou shall not lie (Deuteronomy 5:20)
But sometimes we want something so much we will lie, or even kill to get it. Then whilst you are, trying to acquire what you desire so much through fair and foul means.
God puts obstacles in your way to stop you.
You keep going, you eventually realize having that nice expensive dress brings you no joy.
Like the little girl who is sitting but standing in her heart.
You have achieved your aim but you realize you do not need it. You should have listened to God.
It is better to obey that to sacrifice.
Romans 12:2
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that we may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.
It is much, much easier to live and do as you wish. But the verse above says we should rather strive to obey the word of God. Sometimes it is difficult but pray for grace and strength to live by the word.
1 Corinthians 9:27
But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a cast away.
The Apostle Paul in the verse above says, he tries to control his body, in order not to do what he is not supposed to do according to the bible.
If he feels so much like sleeping when he has to read the bible, even if it means drinking coffee or pinching himself, he will do it to keep awake and read the bible as well as pray.
Conclusion
Meditate on the words of this song.
You Lord, you are worthy And no one can worship you for me.
For all the things, You’ve done for me.
And no one can worship you for me.
Here’s my worship
All of my worhsip
Receive my worship
All of my worship
Here’s my worship
All of my worhsip
Receive my worship
All of my worship
